Looking for a new approach to Macrobiotics
Hi! I'm 21, a life-long macrobiotic, and looking for a whole new approach to understanding, teaching, and living this lifestyle. I just graduated Emerson College in Boston, MA, with a BFA in Acting and a minor in Photography (B&W and Digital). Now I'm trying to decide what to do next in life, and am attracted to learning more about macrobiotics and its applications. Correct me where I'm wrong: I feel there are many aspects of life that modern macrobiotic teaching doesn't approach specifically, being centered mostly around diet and personal lifestyle. For example, social aspects of life, such as issues of race relations, elderly life, sexuality, youth culture, media, and the accessibility (and limitations) of macrobiotics in it's present form. For so long macrobiotic teaching has focused on the improvement of diet, and rightly so, as the first changes to be made are with ourselves. But once our diet and lifestyle has been improved, where should we focus our new found energy and clarity of thought? I'm wondering if it should be toward a more active approach to bettering our social environment, and I'm also wondering if there is a way to successfully implement macrobiotics as a guideline for social improvement. These are just some of the questions I'm asking myself as I re-examine the principles I've grown up with. I'm interested in hearing from other people about what they think of these issues, so of course e-mail is very welcome. Thanks, Yogen Other Places to go:
