| I am attending a book study of Huston Smith's classic "The World's Religions" and am thoroughly enjoying it. I realize more than ever how eclectic George Ohsawa was--and how gifted. The readings are grouped according to the world's major religions and we just finished the chapter on Taoism. To honor the Great Tao, I wore my necklace with the symbol yin/yang and also a sweater with the same on it, the symbol of the t'ai ch'i. I feel a deep connection with the Order of the Universe in studying Taoism and the other religions we have studied so far. Once again, I am reminded that Gautama Buddha reached enlightenment after he received the gift of some brown rice porridge. In my faith community, we celebrate the New Year with "Buddha's Pudding," and it is wonderful. The Church Universal and Triumphant is a church of Jesus Christ and Gautama Buddha. Without it, (and without my recovery group) I would never have stuck with macrobiotics, as we have been told that the macrobiotic diet is the best way to eat, and it's called the "diet of the Eastern adepts." Just tonight a friend said that another church member healed himself of cancer through raw foods diet and that he has been macrobiotic since 1979 but macrobiotics "didn't work for him" and a raw foods regime did. I wonder if he was really macrobiotic or did he just believe he was and yet still binged on less-than-ideal foods. I do not know. I am not a macro counselor, but someday I would love to be, at least in part. I'd love to be a macro success story and have a joyous end to my life's story. That is part of why I am blogging. I am trained as a journalist and would love to interview macrobiotic succes stories. I am putting all my marbles in the macro basket, even if I have already lost my marbles many times over. I marvel at the miracle I am living daily in blogging on my healing journey. I expect to be healed, as I have Higher Power who wants me to be "happy, joyous and free" and these are markers for the process of healing. May the macro peace be with all of you...
