The more I think about it, the more I believe that going to the Kushi Institute's Way to Health program in 2003 was a kind of intervention by my Higher Power. It was almost like being in treatment for addictions--in my case, food addictions, that bedeviled me for so long. My life has not been the same since then. It is far, far better.
By a week of abstaining from foods that cause me distress and learning the whys as well as the hows of macrobiotics, I learned to practice a whole new way of living. I believe it was entirely necessary for me to have such an intervention. For today, I am very grateful for the life-altering macrobiotic "boot camp."
