Subtropical questions

First, I wanted to thank you for the informative and speedy reply. I appreciate it. I have a few questions that I didn't ask in my last e-mail. So, here goes: South Louisiana is sub-tropical, so does that mean that my macrobiotic diet can include a larger amount of tropical fruits than in more temperate regions? Also, can you tell me why the use of garlic is restricted in macrobiotics? It's a real staple seasoning down here. I know it's aromatic, but I've always considered it a wonderful food for both its' taste, and its'medicinal value during the cold /flu season. Thanks, Naomi
