. Louis...sounds like your liver has been under fire and is unable to carry the load both of your diet and your situation. I've made several posts on this site that give an overall view of generally what goes on as the body becomes more and more unable to handle the extremes of modern living. Again, the intestines are the main organ that is compromised. The large intestine is also the organ influencing will power. So weak intestines, weak will power. You need to make a list of everything you put into your mouth for a week or two and have somebody experienced look at it and make suggestions to your direction. The reason why macrobiotics is so hard to stick with, besides the fact that it's so counter to what's considered normal these days, is that the intestines are shot, affecting intake and elimination, and ultimately, your mental strength. To get through this you have to stick with the food for 3 to 6 months so you can feel what the changes are like in your condition and your thinking. This may come at a lot of costs. You have to weigh it out to see if it's worth it for you. Just like quitting an addiction, take it a day at a time and realize that if you give in, that each day will have to be repeated again with the same amount, if not greater, conviction. In other words, it's tough the first time, tougher the second time and impossible the third time. Macrobiotics can help to calm the waters. Make up your mind to overcome your emotions and eliminate those foods and situations that create problems for you. It will not be easy. Never is, never will be. Find someone or some group that will give you support, but not the kind of support that you become addicted to. There's a lot of information on the web. Again, check my posts for this. Don't eat the bad stuff, cook your own food, chew well, study yin and yang, five transformations, and stay focused. Whole grains, vegetables (including leafy greens), etc. There will be a lot of distractions, just like the holidays. Ask for what you need where ever you go. Take what you need with you. I've done it all. There's nothing you can't do if you want to. I've been through a lot and I have a long way to go. It never ends. Starting and sticking are necessary if you want to become a dependent, responsible, conscious, caring, loving, healthy and completely free human being. How's that for a goal? The Boston area should have many macrobiotic resources. But I'm not big on what I've seen coming out of the KI in the last five or ten years. The whole scene seems to be stagnated or moving sideways rather than forward. I'm not putting it down, just making you aware that everything is not what it seems and you have to be cautious when chosing help in matters of serious consequence... So, on with the show. Bill |
