Re: "In a Pickle" about Breakfast

: Hi Stephanie,

: I was taught that it is ok to have savory, rather than
: sweet at breakfast, and that is what I usually do. I
: normally have gomashio or tekka or natto miso or shiso
: powder on my breakfast cereal, or have it plain. I
: haven't noticed any adverse effects from this regime
: and I have been doing it for sometime now. I know that
: for some people, miso soup in the morning causes the
: intestines to over constrict and therefor make them
: hungry before lunch. However, if one is not over doing
: the condiments on the porrige, it shouldn't cause any
: problems.

Hi again Elizabeth,

I forgot to mention, I have two basic cookbooks, and neither mentions natto, tekka, what are they and how do you make them? Rebecca has given me some shiso leaves which she grew herself... and I guess I could make powder from them in my suribachi. Thanks for the ideas. I've been told I have a yang constitution (so that may be why I'm not supposed to eat salt in the morning -- I have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning and probably need a little something toward the yin side to get my juices flowing?)

Thank you, ~Stephanie
