Re: ScientificStudies on Nutri

Kimber...My position is that the more you can get away from looking at things according to the way modern medicine and science look at them, the stronger your healing process. Or, maybe I should say, worrying about them. In the beginning it is normal for people to still think this way but as macrobiotics takes hold in your physical and life bodies, your thinking changes. The medical/scientific model for what the body needs is not an accurate one. You can't look at the body functions by taking it apart...it is not a machine. This mechanical process/thinking is materialistic and adds to the degenerative flow. The balance of technology is disease. This may be too spiritual for you at this point but it will give you something to think about. Everything your body needs to heal is included in the macrobiotic lifestyle. It's very hard to clinically test macrobiotics. Actually, it's impossible. Clinical studies and laboratory studies are limited in their view and don't take nearly all of the variables involved. Check out the history of medicine and nutrition. And anyway, weren't antecdotal experiences the ones healing was based on early in our history? I've been to both sites you've mentioned. It's OK that these alternatives are mentioned to give people choices at something besides modern medicine. I also get the feeling that they're mentioned to make modern medicine look more effacious. Just my view. There are many books out there of experiences describing macrobiotic healing, both by lay persons and medical doctors, as well as studies done in a clinical way supporting macrobiotics. Call George Ohsawa Macrobiotic Foundation at 800-232-2372 and ask for a book list. Also, on the web at maybe www.macrobiotics.org there is a booklist. In the end, though, it's your understanding, experience and practice that is the determining factor of where you are. The less you get tangental, the better...clarity is relative to time...be grateful for your disease...it's your greatest teacher...Bill
