Re: Pacific Macrobiotic Confer

Bob worked at and attended the Macrobiotic Conference in L.A. in early 1984.

Leaders from Boston, San Diego, Oroville, Paradise, and other major cities came.

Having notice a schism between East Coast and West Coast Schools back in 74 when he lived in the Boston macrobiotic community, he dreamed of the day that came when the leaders of the two schools would come back together again.

Bob took pictures of the gather of these leaders as they met after so many years of seperation, and of of the gathering of the many senior leaders that gather and spoke to the large group gathered there.

There was a macrobiotic store with everything one could imagine (13 bulk misos from Japan, Escondido, Denman Island, Massachusetts, and North Carolina; bulk grains; ordinary and exotic vegetables [jinenjo, lotus root, and winter melon]; bulk seitan and nuka pickle (produced on the premises!); amasake beverages and soft-serve frozen amasake (also produced on the premises); and all the varieties of utensils, cookware, and books you could want.

There was a 40+ seat macrobiotic restaurant serving delicious Southern California style meals and desserts.

There was a large multi-purpose cooking school/lecture hall.

A large production kitchen and warehouse was also part of the complex and housing for almost working/students were also on the property as well as an ujpstairs arrangement of offices, leader's living space and lecture/meeting room.

All this within a stone's throw from the intersection of Fairfax and Melrose where L.A. joined West Hollywood.

Any of you attend that conference?
