Hi Peg...off the top without knowing exactly what you're eating and when: Avoid miso and salt (except plum or plum drinks) in anything before noon, chew very well, eat at about the same time consistently, limit tofu, tempeh, and other soy products except for miso, use 1/8 tsp of sea salt per cup of uncooked grains when cooking, eat pickle with grains, eat in order of yang to yin, miso/seaweed soup first, then bite of grain, then bite of most yang vegetable, then bite of grain, and continue this pattern until you're alternating grain eventually with most yin vegetable at end of meal. A hot twig tea for a finish. You may need to change your food ratios. The other thing that I recommend is the abdominal ginger compress/daikon hip bath regime explained in several earlier posts here. If your intestines don't function well, you don't get full food benefit and tend to eat more. This regime gets rid of stagnations and build-up all over the body. If after you've tried and still nothing helps, then you just eat how much you want to if there are no disasterous effects. There's a macrobiotic saying that "Quatity changes quality." This is sometimes a good way to look at it. It all really depends on who you are, what you're doing, an where you live...Bill
