In the "Health" section of today's SF Chronicle there is yet another toxic, irresponsible report concerning the drug raloxifene and its effectiveness in "preventing" breast cancer. The drug's side effects also include possible fatal blood-clotting. Based on the results of a "big international study" done here at UCSF, raloxifene is now said to be "undergoing even larger trials..to compare it's effectiveness against tamoxifen." The study was conceived and paid for by the Eli Lily & Co, the same corporate giant that markets the drug. At the end of the article, there is mention of "an even larger $100,000,000 study" taking place to compare raloxifene to tamoxifen, using American women as the guinea pigs in this disgraceful waste of lives and money. It made me think, what $1000,000,000 would do for the macrobitic community. |
