Insect bites

Posted by: Anne on May 31, 1999

Hi everyone,

My husband noticed a large insect bite on the side of his hand about 3 days ago. Over the past few days, the area around the bite has swollen quite a lot and has turned a reddish-purple. It appears as if there is some kind of poison involved. The affected area is becoming larger by the day, and now takes up almost 1/3 of his hand. The swelling and tenderness worsen with activity.

He is non-macro, but deeply suspicious of conventional doctors and seems willing to try what I suggest. But I am not sure what to suggest beyond immediately dropping the SAD. Would plasters of any sort be helpful? I see in one of my books that buckwheat plaster is good for drawing out moisture, but I wonder if it would be the right thing to use with what appears to be a toxin?

His symptoms don't seem to match what I find in my books (in which 2 insect bite scenarios are presented: immediate poisoning and anaphalytic shock, or swelling that disappears within a day).

He has not in the past had allergic reactions to bees or other insects.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Thank you, Anne
