Re: candidiasis

Hello, Vanessa...candidiasis is a yeast-like fungus and under normal conditions in the internal environment in the body is not a problem. When it gets out of control (or balance), the end result is that it overtakes the immune system. This is what you're seeing in your symptoms. There are several natural macrobiotic remedies for candidiasis but these are a lot more successful if you're eating macrobiotically. Eating out of balance over a long period of time is what's behind all this. A big change is in order if you choose macrobiotics. I don't like suggesting things without knowing all about you. You'll have to figure out the appropriate adjustments according to your specific circumstances. In general, start with the standard diet of (organic if possible) whole grains, fresh vegetables including leafy greens with a nori or wakame broth soup to start the meal. Cook the grains using 1/8 tsp of sea salt per cup of uncooked grain. This will help with grain digestion. Ume plum or ume-sho-kuzu drink will also help. Phase things in on the slow side to minimize the intensity of the reactions. Pressure cook the grains, steam the rest. (This varies according to your climate) It is most important to do your own cooking. Equally important is to chew well. Get help from someone on a personal contact basis who is knowledgeable about macrobiotics. It can also be done over the phone or internet. A picture will be beneficial. As your body returns to a more balanced state you will have less or no reaction to the macrobiotic things that don't agree with you now. I also recommend starting the intestinal ginger compress/daikon hip bath regime as soon as you can. This will gradually restore digestive and eliminative functions. Previous posts on this site have explanation and instructions for these two things. You may also do the ginger compress on the area around and on the coccyx. I don't know exactly why there is pain, but it could have something to do with the condition of the rectum or the condition of the bones. This will increase circulation, bringing new healthy blood to the area and repel stagnation. A salt bath may also be soothing. Try not to do too much at once. The main thing is to clear out all the non-macrobiotic stuff like drugs, chemicals, dairy, and other blood weakening items. Ease up on the liquid intake. Do some reading. GOMF at (800) 232-2372 has a great choice of books and they are very helpful. If you give me your fax number, I'll send you (or anyone who wants) a list of recommended, occasional, and avoid foods included in general macrobiotic eating. The more you can figure out and do for yourself, the more healing. In the end you become your own doctor. Bill
