I had my gall bladder removed on the 13th of
July 1998. Before surgery, I couldn't walk more than a block or two before my
stomach felt like it was expanding to the point that I was breathless and
couldn't get enough oxygen. After surgery, I am having the same symptoms. I
mentioned this to my doctor but he just ignores it. I also have trouble sleeping
at night because I can't get enough oxygen and it wakes me up in a panic. I have
a lot of water in my systom and and at this point my stomach area is swelled up
as a result. I was swelled up from just below my rib cage down to and including
my feet which added up to about 20 pounds of fluid. This all went away and the
water weight has just started returning within the last week. I was told by my
doctor that I am close to liver damage also due to too much drinking. This was
discovered through a liver biopsy taken during gall bladder surgery. I have quit
drinking since the surgery. Salt intake was the only thing I was told to watch
from now on. Can you give me any ideas as to why I'm retaining water? I need to
get my life back in order but sleepless nights and trouble breathing due to the
bloating is making this virtually impossible. I would appreciate any information
you can give me.
