Unhappy Patrick Mccarty died?

I just read on a UK macro site that US senior macrobiotic teacher and Shiatsu master Patrick Mccarty died recently. Please, does anyone know anything about this? He was such a wonderful speaker and inspiration. I'm in complete sorrow and shock.

Re: Patrick Mccarty died?

Hi,
I now live in SC, but was a member of the macro group in Orlando and knew Patrick. It is sad, that Patrick is no longer with us. I will include this obit, and try to send this photo. He taught so many of us so much and we will have his knowledge and humor with us always.

I cannot copy and paste, but if you are interested I can send you as an attachment the obit and photo, Best regards, Tracey

Post Re: Patrick Mccarty died?

Hello friends,

I just found out about Patrick's passing from a friend but without any Internet information for me to verify it, so I looked around and asked.

"One of our friends sent response to my query at the
macrocf : Macrobiotic Foundation - Central Florida :

that included this from the Macrobiotic Guide Newsletter:

"We received last week the sad news of the death
of an inspiring and much loved teacher Patrick McCarty.
It is with great sadness that I bring you this news. On Friday, January 18, at 5:30 pm,
Patrick McCarty ( founder of the International Macrobiotic Shiatsu Society )
made his transition from this Earth. Fortunately, it was a very peaceful and quiet passing.
I know that Patrick meant a lot to many of you. We all know how many lives he touched during a life that was
far too short. With love and gratitude, V- and K- (Patrick's partner and son)"

Another sent a response with a newspaper clipping that read (omitting private details):

"Patrick's obituary is attached. V- had a beautiful service for him at an outdoor amphitheater at one of his favorite gardens here in Winter Park - Several of us got to visit with him as he was passing and sit with him - it was an honor. His service was amazing - If you need any additional info you can email me at specuch at mac.com :

McCarty, Patrick, On January 18, surrounded by family and friends, Patrick McCarty, Age 60, peacefully left this earth. Patrick was a Beacon of Light to many, both in the U.S. and abroad. One of the world's premier teachers of alternative health modalities, Patrick leaves a legacy of knowledge and love to all those who knew him. He was a noted author and mentor to countless students and clients. Patrick was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife, V- and Son, K-, age 8. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday January 24 at 2PM at Mead Gardens, 1300 S. Denning Dr. Winter Park, FL 32789, (407) 262-2049. In lieu of flowers, an educational account is being set up for K-..."

Another remembrance can be found at the Peninsula Macrobiotic Community.

I stayed with Patrick and his first wife, Meredith ( Healing Cuisine ) at their Eureka, California macrobiotic center twice in the early 1980s and was amazed by his purity and balanced approach to life.

He will be missed!

Thank you, very much.

azulparsnip,

Probably the same as any other group of people.

What I'm starting to discover is that it is less about how long a person lives but more about what they contributed while they were here!

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
lived a little more than 35 years but he contributed a lot during his relatively short life!

Has Mozart been favorably remembered?

My feeling is that Patrick had a big positive impact on peoples' lives and will be remembered!

As I was telling someone earlier today, that I don't believe that there is a life after death but I do believe that part of their spirit carries on through others' remembrance of them!

Thank you, very much.

Re: Patrick Mccarty died?

well, I was hoping you had some more concrete specs but whatever I would still be macro cause I am so much better off for it. And one thing is for sure....I'll die soon or later

First of all, azulparsnip, I don't know how many people are actively involved in macrobiotics, so I imagine that getting more detailed specs might be very difficult!

But returning to the inspiration of macros who have left us, here is an excellent quote from William Dufty (1916-2002) author of Lady Sings the Blues with Billie Holiday (1954) and Sugar Blues (SB)...."For Billie Holiday, Whose death changed my life and Gloria Swanson, Whose life changed my death!" (SB-1975).

Guess what lifestyle Bill chose for his last twenty years?

Thank you, very much.

Re: Patrick Mccarty died?

This whole life/death thing is interesting. It appears that what you think comes after death shapes the way you live, and rightly so.

azulparsnip,

Yesterday morning, after driving taxi from 6pm to 5:30 am and settling my finances with the Company, I engaged a very pious Muslim driver who many times a day lays a rug out on the floor near where we are sitting (while either waiting for a cab to drive, or counting up our earnings before paying the Company) and prays to Allah.

This good man and I previously had a disagreement on a potential transaction and he now would not look at me so I sought to engage him and then we had a very friendly conversation where I found out that besides driving cab he is a teacher of the Quran and we shared with each other our views of the afterlife!

I'm sure that if I had the same view of the afterlife that he has, I would be laying out a rug 5 times a day and praying to Allah, so what you say is true..."It appears that what you think comes after death shapes the way you live!"

Thank you, very much.
