karny,
One other person that you might wish contact before leaving for India, might be Vandana Shiva A regular contributor to Amberwaves ( http://amberwaves.org/ ), she might know of other stores, restaurants, and macro people in India that I haven't found. Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine |

karny,
The e-mail address for Vandana Shiva is vshiva@vsnl.com . I don't know why it did not take unless this site does not read the brackets that are above the comma and the period on our qwerty keyboards. Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine |

Macro-restaurant in London
laila,
There are no macrobiotic restaurants in London that I know of, the closest you will get get would be Fresh & Wild www.freshandwild.com the Soho branch has a spacy cafe area. They have takeaway deli/juice bar, cooked food including organic brown rice. Or you have the choice of a number of stylish vegetarian restaurants. In East London where I live, Wild Cherry near the Buddhist Center in Bethnal Green is a nice place to have lunch. hope you enjoy your stay in London. ![]()

Brazil 2002
michaela,
You ask for alot. Though nearly 20 years ago, I read of a charismatic macrobiotic leader in Brazil, I haven't read anything lately. I have no idea of the size of the German-Brazilian community in Brazil, so I suggest you make inquiries in the German, Portuguese, and Brazilian communities about this. Some Portuguese mb sites: INSTITUTO MACROBIÓTICO DE PORTUGAL http://www.e-macrobiotica.com/ * CorreCotia Produções http://www.correcotia.com/ * Natural Health in Portuguese http://www.9starki.com/sonia/inhame.htm * Seara http://planeta.clix.pt/seara/index.htm Some German mb sites: DAS GROSSE LEBEN * http://www.das-grosse-leben.de/ Das Makrobiotik-Netz * http://www.makrobiotik.net/ * Kientalerhof - Center for Wellbeing and Creativity http://www.kientalerhof.ch/index.asp Makrobiotik in Berlin http://www.naturalmente.de/ Miso-Web * http://www.miso-web.de/ Willkommen auf unserer Homepage! http://www.dgmakrobiotik.de/ * eco4u.de http://www.makrobiotik-web.de/ Also you might get a copy of The International Macrobiotic Directory $12.00 ([$10.00 plus $2.00 s&h], (year 2002, 42 pp, 20,000 listings) 1050 40th Street, Oakland, CA 94608. Hi,
well I'm back and still can't belive that in London there is no macrobiotic restaurant. We have eaten at Fresh and wild, SOHO area (Tube: Piccadilly Circus), Brewer Street 69-75. Nice place, the food is organic but is not vegan only. The food is ok. I found Vitaorganic restaurant better place to eat. The food is also organic. It is placed in Finchley Road 279c (Tube: Fincley Road). An alternative could be one of the Japaneese restaurants. By Laila |

lone cook
Just looking for some suggestions for coping!
Macrobiotics is not a huge thing in Scotland, and this week for some reason (probably because I am working long hours and tired), I am feeling like the only brown rice eater in the world... How do others cope with being the one who eats the 'strange' food? It was tough enough being vegetarian... usually I'm happy enough just knowing I am healthy, but today it is really getting me down, being so different. All suggestions welcome. |

Not to worry! the fates guided me to a new cookery class and I am now feeling much more groovy about the whole thing *smile*
I guess I just need to develop my patience a little more! |

Fiona,
Hello. I saw your post some time back and intended to respond but life got the better of me. The Macrobiotic lifestyle and diet are a hard row to hoe. It is hard being in a place where there isn't any support. It can bring you closer to others who are like yourself or tear you apart from those you were once close to. It just depends. People around me tolerate it at various levels. There are some dishes I prepare which they enjoy, such as carrot burdock kinpura , so I will try to make those dishes so that we can all have something in common. Take care, Lisa |

Robert the
Fiona,
Feel a wee bit alone, are ye? There are a number of Scottish resources to choose from: Kathy Russell, a woman living on a farm experienced a wonderful weight loss and good health from following a macro diet and you might try e-mailing her ( kathy.r@virgin.net ) or check Cybermacro's member pages and e-mail from there. There have been macro people at Findhorn and you might find some support, there ( http://www.findhorn.org/ ). I've found about 30 listings for Scotland in the 2002 International Macrobiotic Directory. 2002 International Macrobiotic Directory is $12.00 ([$10.00 plus $2.00 s&h], (year 2002, 48 pp, 20,000 listings) 1050 40th Street, Oakland, CA 94608. (510) 601-1763, e-mail: Robert Mattson Tell me what city, town, state, county or province you live in, mail (zip) code and/or phone prefix and maybe I can find listings that apply to you. Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine |
