Is the macrobiotic principle of yin and yang, yin or yang?

Is it possible to define the yin and yang theorem with the aspects of yin and yang? Then what would the theorem be? would it be yin or would it be yang, or would it be neither or both?

Well. . .It seems to be pretty well balanced to me.

Yang enough to hold up to reality tests. Yang
due to being based in earthly phenomena. (Earth=yang)

I think there is no proof that brown rice is in the middle of the two.

Hi ragnar,

To me, speaking in terms of the nature of ideas,
yang is practical/rational/common sense. Yin is more spiritual
amorphous/irrational. Neither one is better, and both certainly
exist within the spirit of macrobiotics, but the basic philosophy itself
is whole and sound and practical, so (and this is just in my opinion)
I would guess it has a yang nature. It doesn't just fall apart, it holds
up under questioning and analysis and observation.

Brown rice and other whole grains are indeed the middle way.
Contrast them with other foods such as meat and sugar, and you'll
see that they do not cause the expansion of the latter or the
contraction of the former.

Yin and Yang are always together. There is no yin without yang or yang without yin. This is critically important to understand. The universe at large is constantly moving toward balance. That is way we bother to eat according to yin/yang principles. The universe is pivoted on that point were yin/yang interface and become one.
Each of us as individuals is born with and from a particular and unique balance. Our journey in this life is the drama of going toward the bifurcation of yin/yang becoming one. We have the option of going with the flow or resisting. The universe never looses however. I think that those that recognize the value of this food have at least a sense of this process and therefor wish to be with the program. The unverse certainly allows us to go in any direction we want but has a price to be paid. The justice of yin/yang will respond to our every move. Go too far to the yin and the yang will pursue. Go to far to the yang and the yin will pursue.
