Talking Surprise

I am a new member to cybermacro, and I am visiting here to get a feel for what folk like to discuss, but there seems to be a complete absence of topics. So it makes me just a little nervous about sending my gift to you. But here goes.. It is Sunday here in New Zealand and I have just come back from church. A friend of mines recently lost her middle son in a motorcycle accident in Australia. Our church congregation gathered around her to help her out in many different ways, both spiritual and financial. Today Rachael came to church to give thanks in her own unique way. She is a member of a barber's shop singing group, and she brought her group to church to sing some special songs for us in glorious harmony. What was so special? I'll tell you.. the first song was 'My eyes have seen the Glory of the coming of the Lord'(The Battle hymn of the Republic) and I can tell you that there was a VERY special atmosphere in church , evryone could sense it and I can swear that it was because Rachael's departed son, Lawrence WAS there - sitting on his mother's shoulder while she was singing. It was a very moving experience.

Dear Katya,
I have just returned from a two and one-half week stay at a Monastery in the Mts of Pecos, New Mexico - midwest USA. Your account of Rachael's loss and her gift to the congregation was truly inspiring. Thank you. Peace and love,
