A friend passed on this photo of Michio. Apparently he is involved with a MLM company -- does anyone know anything about this?
The tale is that he is hoping to resurect the ill-fated Kushi Cusine as one of the companies products!!

Also I was sent this text about the event too. Hope people find this interesting.

SUNRISE WALKATHON Five hundred walkers – the maximum allowed for an event in a Missouri State Park – took part in the Nikken/Kushi Sunrise Walkathon, held in conjunction with the Nikken North America Convention.
Nearly $20,000 was raised in pledges by the walkers, and all the money will be donated to the Kushi Institute for its fight against cancer. Of the 500 entrants, the top fund raiser was wellness consultant Mary Ellen Mendez.
Michio Kushi led the group of walkers, proudly displaying his CardioStrides, and said it was the first time in his life he had worn sneakers.

Stopped several times for rousing ovations, Kushi told the crowd that the relationship between his respected Kushi Institute and top Nikken executives — Chairman and CEO Tom Watanabe and President and COO Kendall Cho — has been solidified.
“Let us open a new era of humanity, where everyone can enjoy their freedom and prosperity. There is hope, because you are here,” Kushi said. “There is a brightness, because you are here. I am grateful to Mr. Watanabe and Mr. Cho. Together, we can create health throughout the planet.”
The message blended perfectly with the theme of the Nikken North America Convention — Humans Being More.
Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, Kushi was able to generate excitement at the convention by his mere presence.
“The energy in this room indicates we are on the verge of an energy explosion with Nikken,” said Royal Diamond wellness consultant Lillian Ghali. “Michio Kushi is here, and that signifies we are on the dawn of a new era.”

Apparently Nikken hasn't started promoting the Kushi Cusine, yet.

I haven't been able to find the evidence that Michio is in fact responsible for starting "World Peace Day" (November 17 or 19?).

I would be interested in knowing who attributes that fact to him so that I could verify the fact.

Having almost gotten intimately involved with two MLMs during the late 1980s because of the desire of getting their products at a reduced price, I am wary of that particular way of doing business.

Because of the "open to almost everything" mentality that is pervasive to many in the macrobiotic community, many get involved in Mullti-Level Marketing enterprises (MLMs) often without getting the whole picture, so here is some more of that whole picture that might be missing:
