Today I noticed grass is green!

I was just walking back home over a bit of lawn after a beautiful refreshing short walk, and i noticed the grass i was walking over was green! I have always known the grass to be green, but I have never before noticed that it actually was!

This is my second day of following a macrobiotic diet strictly. Things (thoughts, experiences) are clear more of the time when not drugged up on sugar and too much food. Its hasn't been more comfortable some of the time, but it is certainly better this way - maybe this is what was ment by Dogen when he said "We must always be disturbed by the truth."

Hey WACO...You sure its rice youre eating....I mean grass youre looking at and not smoking...LOL. Kidding!
Still..that "is" kind of wierd. In the 60's I could definatly relate to that but rice isn't quite doing that for me and I'm on my fifth day of the ten day rice thingy...maybe in another five I'll see it.
All kidding aside. During my meditation yesterday I actually saw green...no kidding! Was gonna look in a book I have about The Bon Tradition to look in the chapter about Chakras and what green represented but I took a shower instead and forgot till I saw your post. Hmmm. I might understand that had we been doing wheat grass but.....ahhhhh, time to get some shut eye.
Catch ya later bro and enjoy the grass ; )

Re: Today I noticed grass is green!

Hi Andy!

I would be interested to know what green represents when you find out. I mean, i could have noticed that tarmac was grey, but it was deffinately that grass was green!

I don't know what part rice played, but balenced diet is good. Meditation helps me be more aware of what is right before my eyes!

I dreamt someone replyed to this post last night (don't get me wrong, it wasn't a major feature of my dreams!) - Another seemingly useless observation!

So how are you finding the rice diet?

Mark

So how are you finding the rice diet?>>>>>
Mark,
Well lets put it this way. tomorrow will be ten days of rice and tea 3X a day. I decieded that since it's going so well I'm going to make this into a two week journey. Lots of and ups and downs to it. Mostly ups though.
I feel a definite sense of more calm than I did before. I was always pretty OK especially being I meditate almost every day. I'm a builder (renovations) so I'm pretty active all day and that alone can tire you out.
I thought the rice on one hand might not be enough for me being so active but on the other hand i thought that it does have carbs which do turn into energy.
I don't really feel any more tired than I ever did,,,maybe a little less but not enough to swear to that. Doesn't really matter. Just letting you know where i am with this. As I said...I "would" swear to feeling a bit more calm.
Oh yeh, and another great and mind blowing thing is...I've lost exactly 15 pounds as of today and I'm not eating particularly small bowls of rice. 1 1/4 cup dry cooked with about two and a half cups of spring water.
I never dreamt THAT would happen!! I was 185 exactly and on the same scale today I'm 170. Geezzz.
If I shrink any more than that I'll be what I was when I was in my early twenties.,,,lol.
Its taken a whole lot of discipline not to nosh especially at night. And seeing the crap other people in my house are eating makes it more difficult. Sure would love a handful of Cheese-Its...yummm, or potatoe chips or...ugh.
But I'll tell you. I've worked it all through with myself and I'm totally cool with it all because this is how I "want" to be and that takes more discipline which is all part of what I want this journey to be all about.
PS.. I never looked up what green meant but green has to be a good thing : )
Be well bro
Namaste'
andy

Re: Today I noticed grass is green!

I've been looking at the grass and other various green weeds lately wondering if any of them are healthy. I can't decide if this is good or bad.

Re: Today I noticed grass is green!

Trying to decide if they are healthy to eat, or look healthy?

I saw a hawthorn bush that had just grown its first leaves of the season, and it looked really healthy, a really vibrant green, it made me want to eat it! I latter found out that hawthorn is ediable and it is also good for your cardiovascular system.

Do you find deciding if something is good or bad useful? does it benifit you to THINK 'this is good' or 'this is bad'? Does it get you closer to the truth, or make you happier?

Thank you

Mark

Re: Today I noticed grass is green!

Buy Organic Wheatgrass (from the grocery). It comes in a container, you can set it in the window, water it, and let it grow -- when you want to eat some, cut the grass (with a scissors). Wheatgrass is a wonder food, it can clean out the tiny circulatory vessels in feet/toes, hands/fingers that go numb from heavy metals and other accumulated garbage. Put your Wheatgrass on a sandwich (like sprouts), or blend it in a green drink with ingredients of your choice such as; apple, carrot juice, rice milk, and other vegetables of your choice. Any green drink is IMMEDIATELY alkalizing in a beautifully BALANCED way!

Cut Dandelion Greens from the yard (must have no pesticide on them). They are Wild Greens that will be a new bitter taste for anyone in the beginning. Steam, then saute with garlic and olive oil -- this takes off the bitter edge, and they are delicious. Dandelion Greens are a fabulously healing food for the liver/gall bladder. They are plentiful at this time, in Spring (in yard or grocery). Flowers, stems, and roots are also edible. Many recipes are available on the Internet, even Dandelion Wine.

Enjoy your Fresh Greens!

Actually, it's easy being green

Nancy

Re: Today I noticed grass is green!

Hmmm, interesting, thank you!

I thought the only way you could use wheatgrass was buy juicing it?

I will try that with the dandilions, i had tried them before but found them too bitter

All the best

Mark
