Hi!

I recently came across a wikipedia article which mentions that in Bavaria, it used to be considered good luck to sprinkle animal dander on one's food just prior to consuming it, and for this purpose, jars of the stuff used to be kept at the ready and offered to guests as a courtesy. In my own opinion, that's just NASTY!!! (I can just hear the waiter saying now, "Sir, would you care for some salt and dander with that?") But of course, there are cultures that eat insects, monkey brains, and all sorts of bizarre things I would never personally dream of trying myself.

I thought I'd start an entertaining thread asking others the question - what are some of the weirdest dietary practices you've ever heard of?
