    Yang pick-me-ups

So of course the staple of my diet is still grains but I was wondering if anyone knew of any good strong yangizers when one is feeling tired or drained and needs more energy. I've been experimenting recently with umeboshi plums, taking a few pieces or a whole plum when I feel tired and I've been having some success with it though it's still too early to tell. Today I ate a couple pieces of ginseng root after I felt a bit sleepy (as I heard it's very yang) and it tasted like condensed dirt with a sleight carrot aftertaste. Yum! I think it pulled me out of my sleepiness at least a little bit or maybe its just a placebo effect - I don't know.

I want to experiment though with other strong yangizers and see which ones I like best - does anyone out there know of any? Having a few pieces of ginseng root on hand would be much more convenient than ume plums but maybe there's some even better ones out there? I'm all ears!
