Re: Aweful situation

I can't understand how arthritis in pelvis would cause miscarriage. I wonder if the pregnancy/ homone environment would relieve some of the arthritic tension, but I am not doctor. Are there medications involved that could cause trouble?
Maybe you could consult a midwife page somewhere.

My friend there is a connection between ANAs (antinuclear antibodies) and recurrent miscarriages. ANAs suggest the possibility of autoimmune diseases. One of the most well-known autoimmune diseases, systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus) is associated with ANAs in 95% of patients. Women with lupus that become pregnant have a 15% risk of loss of pregnancy.

Re: Aweful situation

my first miscarriage was in 1979, and at that time my ob/gyn tried to comfort me to say that at least 1/3 (forgive me, I might be wrong in my memory of the number, but remember it being quite high) of pregnancies end up in miscarriage, and it's a good thing, nature's way of preventing a badly maturing fetus. Since then, I had had several miscarriages - I wasn't mb at the time, but neither did I have any serious condition.

I would just concentrate on being as healthy as possible, eating balanced and varied, resting and mild exercise (walking with husband is nice) and being in a good state of mind, as much as you can with any way of ridding yourself of worries as you can.

But I am interested in knowing more about lupus, for a friend. Also how mb deals with it.

Thanks.

Klara

Re: Aweful situation

forgot to mention, from friends' experiences, the best thing for arthritis is totally excluding all nightshades from the diet, tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants, peppers and also that with oxalic acid, like spinach, chard. Is your wife eating a mb diet??

Re: Aweful situation

Hello again,

Quite a while has gone by since you first posted. How's your wife doing??

I am baffled on how to answer you question? I got on this site on the assumption that it is one more wonderful resource for the macrobiotic practice. There are many wonderful articles, chats and past discussions on many aspects of macrobiotics.

But lately I have seen posts on the forum that seem to me quite disconnected to macrobiotics. And a feeling that people write anything they wish, with or without any knowledge of macrobiotics.

I used to often try to explain basic macrobiotics, but guessing there's plenty people can look up if they wish. There really is alot on the computer one can find.

My apologies if I seem a bit short - but why are people coming to this site if not for exchanging macrobiotic ideas??
