Thank you for answering my Namibia question! I live in Norway, normaly eating, I guess more yang than it's good to eat in a tropical climate. But I guess I will figure that out when I come there, eating more raw food, more fruits, and so on. And I'll probably also find a place to by what I need. The best would be if there was a good place I could go to eat at I plane to stay at a hostel or something. And I guess I'll go to Windhoek, but I really don't know jet. I go there to practise in a hospitale. And I plan to go without taking any vaccinations...

    Bruce,

You know me! I talked to you a couple of months ago in the South End when I was meeting a pilot friend. You led me to a market that you said had some great healthy prepared food. I remember cold soba salad for some reason.

At any rate, I'm glad you responded. I'm interested in learning more and more about the lifestyle which I have been following for some time but not as rigidly or perfectly as I could. We can chat here if you wish but I called you before I left for the Middle East (and I'm still here) getting very hot both internally and externally.

When you have a free millisecond, write back?

    Julie

Does Nature Speak in Japanese?

by Bruce Paine on 05-27-2008 at 05:17 PM
After reading Gary's post at LittleTreeTalk, A Superhighway to Bliss
this weekend, I delved into my piles of stuff and found these articles that I copied from an old East West Journal back in 1997; then scanned and edited last night, so we can read them:

Does Nature Speak in Japanese?

Thank you, very much.

Be well, be your best, and be blessed!

The Whole Daikon: Takuan (rice bran pickles) and Hip Bath (dried daikon leaves)

by Bruce Paine on 03-28-2008 at 11:42 AM
When I moved to Roy Steevensz's macrobiotic center in Los Angeles in the early 1980s, I was put to work making takuan (rice bran pickles) which are made by taking fresh large whole daikon roots that have their leaves still attached, rinsing them in cool pure water, separating the leaves in a clump from the top of the daikon root with a sharp knife (the clumped leaves are then hung on a tight clothesline in the shade, outside for a number of days until they become yellow-brown and brittle, and then

Macrobiotic child needs a new home!

by Bruce Paine on 11-17-2007 at 06:21 AM
Hi,

A friend of mine and her husband (both long-time macrobiotic practitioners) adopted a young girl many years ago who turned out to have some mental and emotional deficiencies and raised this girl into adulthood.

Living with this young woman has been like riding a roller coaster and not long after her hormones kicked, in did she start getting intimate with boys and soon after, she got pregnant (while still in high school!)

So my friend and her husband

Upbeat and uplifting!

by Bruce Paine on 10-06-2007 at 10:00 AM
Hi,

Recently, I took a trip to South Jersey to visit a friend who is a real macrobiotic dynamo (practices shiatsu and pranic healing, cooks macrobiotic foods for people in her home, does macrobiotic counseling, and still has time to create beautiful and inspirational art) so that I could get recharged (do some very had work moving very heavy oak logs by hand and wheelbarrow across her property, carry heavy bronze sculpted statues onto a truck out to a outdoor display area, back onto

Your dream is what you chews! ;-)

by Bruce Paine on 10-05-2007 at 09:10 AM
Hi,

Last week, as I was traveling north from South Jersey, I stooped by a favorite restaurant for a meal and made the acquaintance of a lady who related a song that she heard Lino Stanchich sing, once when she was down in Asheville:

Sung to the tune of "Row row row your boat, merrily down the stream...":

"Chew chew chew your food

gently through the meal....

The more you chew

the less you'll eat.
