anxiety / panic attack - help!
Hello,
I've been on macrobiotics for over 1 year now and lately, I've been experiencing panic attacks. It's usually triggered when I feel dizzy or light headed, or hypoglycemic (maybe I'm discharging? as per the dizzy - lightheaded thread). However, it progresses into panic attacks. I have yet to meet with a stress doctor, but normally, these doctors will use a medical approach, and may prescribe pharmceuticals. In macrobiotics, what would be an explanation and a 'cure' for anxiety attack? |

Re: anxiety / panic attack - help!
I came to read the thread entitled 'Klonopin' which contained information about anxiety attacks. Ray Collins gave very helpful tips on diet. I have been taking miso soup everyday, with very generous amounts of ginger. I have stopped adding ginger since last week as I felt my stomach react not so nicely (contractions). I also took a lot of tofu over the past few weeks. I also unknowingly consumed big portions of msg (the nori that I was eating was seasoned with msg). In addition, my mother used to suffer from panic attacks as well. My anxiety attacks were at its worst over the past few weeks so Ray's tips seem very accurate to my case.
Now for my questions: 1. avoid noodles - does this include pasta? 2. avoid strong aroma teas - i heard that chamomile with lavender is very good in calming the nerves. is this part of the strong aroma teas that i should avoid or is this a good beverage for anxiety attacks? 3. avoid vinegar - does this include brown rice vinegar and umeboshi vinegar? 4. avoid tofu - does this include fried tofu cheese. I was made to understand that frying tofu will make it less yang. Last edited by sua721; 07-11-2005 at 11:12 PM. |

Re: anxiety / panic attack - help!
Hello, I was also having anxiety, panicing at night feeling like I couln't catch my breath especially upon sleeping on the left. I went to the chiropracter and turned out my ribs were compressing nerves by my heart. I only went once and after a day the panic and chest pains went away. Also a nerve could be compressed in your shoulder, stretching arms up and toward the back also helped reverse by motherly posture. Just something different you may consider, peace Lysia

Re: anxiety / panic attack - help!
Hello Lysia,
Thanks a lot for your input. I do have a very bad posture. It worsened when I breastfed my baby. My back is really bad and I think it causes a lot of discomfort, interferes with my breathing and doesn't allow free flow of blood. I'll go visit a chiropractor. cheers! |
