I live in Jamaica and they sale Daikon in the grocery stores, but I haven't been able to find the leaves.
Are there any good replacements for the leaves? I'm interested in trying to remove the stagnation in my body (toxins, etc). I'm already drinking herbal tea, doing ginger compreses and doing colon cleansing. ![]() |

Losing it,
Daikon usually comes with leaves so go ask the produce person if they cut them off before putting them out for display (and if so have them either not cut off the leaves or save them for you). If they are recieving daikon without the leaves attached, then ask them to order or special order you the daikons with the leaves attached. Otherwise you can use dried turnip leaves or arame sea vegetable. You can also order the hip bath, online. Thank you, very much. _||_ Bruce Paine |

Re: i want to do a daikon hip bath but can't find the leaves...
Thanks for the suggestions and the images! I was thinking of contacting a farmer to get them directly from him.
But I will try going to to grocery store or market directly. Last edited by losing_it; 06-12-2005 at 04:11 PM. |

Re: i want to do a daikon hip bath but can't find the leaves...
I bought some Jamaican comfrey. I guess that's the same thing.
Dorcas, you have been helpful! I will try it but I have been having trouble doing the compresses. It takes so much time and so many towels and I don't have a dryer and it's been raining for weeks now. I will keep doing it. I hope it really does something. Thanks again. |

For us women, it is rec'd 1 ginger compress 2x a week and a hip bath 2x a week for 16 weeks, 6 weeks off before resuming another round or 2 or 3... You asked for some options top the daikon leaves and I am guessing you have already tapped into the good lead that Bruce left for you. Buying the ones Gary sells is the most convenient. Here are some other ideas copied and pasted from one of my files: The dried leaves of 4 bunches of daikon leaves, turnip greens, comfrey leaves, dandelion greens or Arame sea vegetable. The greens are dried by hanging to dry in a place sheltered from direct sunlight until the leaves turn crisp. Ask your store manager to save the leaves for you. Arame is usually found in bulk in some coops or health food store. Dandelion greens can be foraged, washed and dried. Perhaps one of your friends has comfrey growing in his/her garden that you might be able to negotiate for or buy. Am I being helpful?[/quote] |

The time in between is important to allow the body to catch up from the detoxing the remedies evoke. The suggestion then is to do the round until you have done 32 GC's and 32 Hip baths. If you feel weak at times, you may need to take a break between to let the detoxing to its job...it may stretch out the 16 weeks to 17 or 18. I use an old Tee shirt to protect myself from the heat. If you put the towels direct on the skin, the bacteria from you skin will spoil the water when you want to use it again. If your towels have a good tuft, they will hold the heat longer. Use a heavy towel to cover. So you should have 2 working towels for each session. It does mean you will have 4 to be drying until the next time. I am guessing you might be wondering at times if it is worth it, but because you see the value to the process, your mind may need to be reminded you are saying Yes to some needs of yours that matter. It will need to be reminded often! ![]() It may not seem much is happening because the process tho slow is useful. It helping not only on a physical level but a spiritual as well. The large intestine is reflexive to the frontal brain, so as one is cleared, the other is responding with a new awareness... I am very moved by your efforts to help make your life more wonderful...Kindest, Dorcas |

Re: i want to do a daikon hip bath but can't find the leaves...
I did a Ginger Compress last night and going to do another one this evening. I was told to use 4 towels which is why I was going through so many towels. I will try the 2 and see how that goes.
Thanks again for all the info... it's nice to have people responding to messages. I wish this forum was more active. I finish my 30 day cleansing diet this Sunday. I can't weight to eat vegatables again. I don't know what I am going to eat next month... I will find out on Saturday when I go back to the naturopath/counselor. He's so high strung and crass sometimes... he is a bit much for me sometimes so it's nice to get other support. I have training Friday and Saturday so I thought I wouldn't be able to go see him on Saturday. He said I need to know what my priorities should be and said I can't go to training if I'm sick. Well I understand what he is saying but I'm not sick. I wouldn't have decided to do macrobiotics if I didn't think my health is important. Anyway I told him I would come at 8 am before training since he said he was going out of town and couldn't see me until Thursday. Thanks! |
