Anyone have a colonoscopy?
In my early fifties, been practicing macrobiotics in a liberal, relaxed way for thirty years. While seeing my general practitioner today for my annual physical (glad to use western medicine for any diagnoses they can offer!), he suggests it's time for a colonoscopy! Jumpin' George Ohsawa -- what should I do? Anyone else wrestle with this -- on either a philosophical or health level? I definitely do NOT subscribe to the notion that eating MB will always protect you against cancer; after everything that's happened in our community lately, I can't see how anyone can.

Re: Anyone have a colonoscopy?
Hi Rick,
I am 52, a mb practioner, and questioned whether or not to have one. I finally decided to have it. I figured that better to be safe than sorry. They found a small benign pollyp. Everything worked out OK. Good luck in your decision. |

Re: Anyone have a colonoscopy?
not a lot of fun! Also not so good energetically and physically. Plus the anaesthesia can affect some people for ages.
when making the decision to have any invasive test you need to ask what would I do if anything untoward was found? How would I react? what action would I take? I find the best screening is MORA therapy - lots online about it. Most comprehensive testing around - physical/bioenergetic etc and if it finds anything it can treat it! Howz that? When I took a new type of insulin last year and got very very sick from it, this method actually found cellular changes very rapidly - not healthy growth - like very very very early precancerous changes. Well I got this insulin and the memory of it removed with mora and then these cellular changes addressed and within a week it was all smooth sailing on the biological terrain. I know it sounds far fetched but it has a lot of solid medical and energetic research behind it and is based on acupuncture and homeopathy and bioenergetic principals! not too shabby. And the other thing - I have seen it save lives - including my own in dire cases often rapidly. But that is a long winded - pun intended - answer to another question! ;-) |

Re: Anyone have a colonoscopy?
I'm getting ready to have one myself in just over a month. I've had ulcerative colitis for almost two years (without remission) and have so far had 2 colonoscopies in Serbia and they were extremely unpleasant moments - no sedation, not well prepared... For this reason neither colonoscopy was actually a colonoscopy - they just managed to examine the descending colon, so I am now scheduled to have "a proper one" in the UK. I hope it will be a slightly less unpleasant experience. Good luck with yours. Let us know how it goes.

Rick,
My spouse had a colonoscopy. We prepared for the fast by making sweet vegetable drink, which worked quite well. Also, make several different broths for yourself like shoyu broth or a veggie puree or something. The doctors want the colon cleansed out, so they recommended for the cleanse-out an herb, Senna, called Senekot in the store. During the procedure, which I attended, they found two benign polyps, which they snipped. At that time, we were barely macro, having just started. Now we're just under 10 years macro. From facial diagnosis on the left cheek of my spouse, it is possible to tell that there are still two areas in the colon that are a problem. They are probably the same two spots in the descending colon, now somewhat scarred and being fed by any and all wide foods that may be being consumed from time to time. The facial spots vary from soft and disappearing (when we're eating healthily and there are no emotional problems), to reddish and hard (not a good sign!). Since we know there is a definite food-based problem, we can address that issue. However, health issues always have 3 components: the physical, the emotional, and the spiritual. So there are definitely issues in those areas that we are trying to address. If there is anything found in the colon, make sure you examine your emotional issues for sure on this one, looking at relationships that started with your parents. Spiritually, there needs to be a release that lets these things go: a time of forgiveness and letting others live their lives, not holding them to you anymore. When I think back on it, I realized something about the whole colonoscopy routine: they automatically assume that if they find anything, they are going to cut it out. Since the person undergoing the routine is out of it anyway, they can't make a logical decision. What if we didn't want that, and wanted to address the issue macrobiotically? Make sure you ask your doctor about THAT one. Anyway, remedies: dried daikon is good for getting to fatty excesses deep and internally. Since daikon is in the Metal category from the Five Transformations, it will help the lung/large intestine/brain. So see a counselor and proceed from there. Hope you don't have anything, but if you decide to do it and have the procedure, you'll just be a little tender and under the weather the next day. So try not to plan anything the day of and the day after, just to be safe and to be kind to yourself. Good luck to you! |
