Macrobiotics and Metastatic Breast Cancer

Hi Everyone,

My beautiful young girlfriend of many years has had a relapse of cancer after undergoing a double mastectomy, chemo (completed in April 2003) and hormone therapy for 2 years (zolodex) .

She was given the all clear, and doctors were very impressed. Well low and behold just 2 months ago, she was rediagnosed, only this time its come back locally in the breast as well as hotspots showing in the spine and ribs.

She has decided to try first a macrobiotic approach to healing, must like the great Bonnie King.

What advice can you guys give on this? Also specifically, why I am posting here, is because I am wondering if Pain killers such as Panadeine Forte are allowed or not on this type of diet. She is on a 0 sugar diet completely and Im sure that these 'chemicals' may be against the principles of Macrobiotics?

I know its a hard question, but Im looking for advice or opinions, but most importantly from people well informed on Macrobiotics, must like Kushis diet principles.

She has worked so hard to beat this, and at 31, shes just too young to be having to go through this all again. It is genetic in her family, and from what I know she is carrying the BC gene.
