Colon Cancer and Macrobiotics - India

Hi all,

I am a newbie to this forum and was hoping for some advice. My mother was diagnosed with colon cancer 5 years ago and went through the traditional treatment - surgery, chemo, radiation. For 3 years she was OK and then the cancer recurred around the colostomy area (March 2003). Now she has been on a variety of chemos and we are rapidly running out of options - her CEA count is on the rise and she has been steadily losing weight.

I read Elaine Nussbaum's book 'Recovery from Cancer' and was really inspired. The macrobiotic diet makes intuitive sense as a good diet for anyone, not just people afflicted with cancer. However, my mother is based in India and is unable to travel for now. The good news is that she is quite young (47) and as far as we know, the cancer has only metastasized in the abdomen, but nowhere else.

I was planning on taking the Kushi institute's program and go to India to help her heal. However, is this doable without a local macrobiotic counselor? Are there any macrobiotic counselors in India? Are all the required ingredients available in India?

I'm so confused....any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
