Two quick questions

Hi,

I'm relatively new to Macrobiotics and was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good macro-friendly cold cereal for me (not oatmeal, etc) because even when I'm buying organic whole-grain raisin bran or Kashi cereals, I notice there is often evaporated cane juice or something in them -- is this alright or is it a macro no-no??

Also, I was wondering where I could find a good whole wheat english muffin and whole wheat pita bread that are macro-friendly? Most of the ones I've found at my local whole foods market, even though they say whole wheat, also have some unbleached wheat flour as an ingredient, after the whole-wheat flour. Is it alright for macros to be eating unbleached wheat flour or not? If not, can someone recommend some good products?

Thanks a lot!

Erwon makes some good dry cereals, mostly rice cereals. They are definitely macro friendly.

There is pita bread with all whole wheat and no yeast on the market. Remember, rice cakes, bread, etc. are used in moderation on this diet.

Re: Two quick questions

Cook whole grain, organic brown rice and eat it in the morning with toasted sesame seeds, a bit of tamari and some of yellow, green and white vegetable for breakfast. Miso soup is recommended for breakfast too with some vegetables added, followed by brown rice. Try to get away from manufactured food no matter how much it insists on claiming to be macro- friendly.Cook a quantity of rice, enough for a few days and re-heat it or eat it at room temperature (the best for the kidneys). This breakfast will keep your energy at a good level all day.

Mally05,

Macrobiotic food is relatively high in water content, so cold, dry foods are not usually macrobiotic.

What's motivating you to seek dry, cold cereal?

Thank you, very much.
