Hi Lucas,

The most suitable sea weeds for babies that young are toasted nori, nori flakes and wakame (in soup). I wouldn't give a 14 month old hijiki or shio kombu (much too strong for a baby). Be careful of salt, for babies, since they are already quite yang ( and sea weed contains plenty of minerals and salt). If you give your baby miso soup, make it quite mild (1/4 tsp of miso per cup of liquid or less). In fact, the baby should get little or no salt, at this point. I wouldn't give a baby seitan, either, since it is cooked in shoyu. Stick to the tofu, sesame seeds, even a little white meat fish is ok once in a while, if you are worried about protien (but don't be, since all foods contain protien) Macro babies tend to be sturdier than the average baby, and by modern standards they get much less protien than their counterparts. YOu should see my baby. He is five months old and has been getting teeth for a month now and he is sturdy as a little brick. He's probably going to grow up to be a soccer hooligan or a rugby player!!
