Macrobiotics curing myopia (poor vision) ?

Hi everyone.
I am new to this forum, i have been looking for a macro message board for a while and glad i found this one.
Anyway, i went macro two months ago. It is working out well for me.
The most amazing thing, however, is that my vision is improving. A month ago i got my eyes checked and they had improved by about half a diopter. they were -3.5 and -3.00 or so and now they are -2.5 and -2.00 i think. i am wearing old contacts that i found and i also got out my glasses from 11 years ago (!) and they are almost strong enough for me. My zen macro book said macro was a cure for myopia but i didnt believe it until this started happening!

Has anyone else had their vision improved by macro diet? If so, how much did it improve? I am hoping my vision keeps improving until it is 20/20. that would be so incredible!

-Brent

Re: Macrobiotics curing myopia (poor vision) ?

Brent,

This week I was reviewing my copy of Ohsawa's, Zen Macrobiotics, and I quote:

"MYOPIA -- Most types are caused by an increase in the diameter of the eye (a Yin condition). Other types of myopia are caused by an increase in the refractive power of the lens. Can be the result of either too much Yin or too much Yang food and drink. All types can be cured by the normal macrobiotic diet -- a good balance of Yin and Yang food and drink."

I have been myopic (wear contact lenses) since the summer I was eight, contracted a viral illness, and read a lot in bed, with a high fever. After recovery, my former 20/20 vision was no longer. I now know what this can do to the eyes (elongated or stretched eyeball), but I was eight at the time, and my parents brought me books from the library. I don't know if my particular case, then, is recoverable by macrobiotics.

I noticed my eyesight getting very sharp and clear recently, while being exceptionally strict and restrictive with the macrobiotic diet, and after the last six months of much more pressure cooking than I usually do.

So there is an effect, if diligence is kept up.

Nancy

Re: Macrobiotics curing myopia (poor vision) ? cured hand tremor.

yeah, i have the same zen macro book. it's the only reference i've ever seen, online or in print, about macro diet helping myopia.
It seems that my eyesight is still improving, slowly but surely. i was afraid it would plateau off after a while.
i will report back next week after i see a new opthamologist and see exactly how much my eyes have improved!
my mother thinks it is from cutting out sugar from my diet. she said that indeed bad bloodsugar levels can affect vision. I think this might be partially causing the improvement.
also, i had an "essential" tremor for years (essential being the medical term for unknown cause ). ever since i was 14 (23 now) my hands shook. sometimes just slightly, but within the last year bad enough that i had to use two hands to use wrenches to make it steady, and one time so bad that i shook my drink all over my plate of food at dinnner! anyway, now the tremor is gone totally! not even perscribed medication got rid of it completely.
love,
brent
