I am trying to eat Congee - creamed grains - & its absolutely awful Ive piled on the condiments but no joy Its the only grain style that gives me energy. Talking

Hi Michelle,

I have a friend who had CFS and macrobiotics has helped her a great deal. She now has a two year old, where as before she couldn't even get out of bed. I can give you her email address and I am sure that she would be happy to talk to youi. My address is yangwater_@hotmail.com and I can mail it to you this way. Are you under the guidance of a macrobiotic counselor? If so, who? Wishing you all the best,

Elizabeth

Thumbs up

Dear Michelle, I have only just joined the forum right this minute. And I sincerely feel that I can help you with CFS. Ishall have to go into a deep 'think' to formulate my reply and you will hear from me very soon. In the meantime as a starter and it is just that but a very important one...I don't know what condiments you are using, but trying to be macrobiotic I am sure it is probably based on sesame. I suggest you cut that OUT and use ONLY ,CELTIC SEA SALT. This is salt from France and has absolutley remarkable healing powers. Take a hit on the Celtic Sea salt site and surf the net to find out all you can about Jacques de Langre.

Dear Michelle,

I am very sorry to hear of your CFS. Chronic fatigue syndrome is a very disabling disease, whose treatment is largely ignored by Western medicine.

I applaud you on your embrace of the macrobiotic diet and lifestyle to cure your CFS. When one initially converts to a macrobiotic diet, one often feels incredible... absolutely the best they have ever felt in their lives. That usually subsides over a period of six months, never to be regained again (sad, but very true!). That initial high is definitely worth the experience, goodness knows it's great, but after following the diet for many years other difficulties may set it (and often do!).

Have you ever noticed how many of the leading macrobiotic counselors look anemic, pale, and sickly (I won't name names!)? All I'm saying is, don't be too dogmatic. Do not be obsessed about a particular condiment, and PLEASE do not become obsessed about food!

Often times one's attitude about food is what imparts physical and mental strength and health. If you feel restricted, or constrained, or you think certain foods are bad for you -- then guess what? they will be bad for you, and bad for your health. If you feel guilty or anxious about foods, then you are not going in the right direction!

Please continue to eat whole organic foods in a healthful fashion, but please be open-minded about your treatment protocols.

Macrobiotics can be a great starting place to increase your consciousness, increase your connection to the universe, and become closer to nature and to your divine self. But do not let your exploration end there. That would be short-sided and unidirectional. Read the writings of Emerson, Tolstoy, Troward, and Goethe.

Macrobiotics emanates from a complex tradition of Traditional Chinese Medicine (although macrobiotics distorts the primary actions of yin and yang, and categorizes food with an undue importance of being yin or yang, rather than a more complex system based not primarily upon food energetics -- although that is there -- but more specifically upon the actions of a specific food upon an individual's needs based upon internal and external conditions -- e.g., damp, heat, wind, deficient, excess, and so on). In TCM, no foods are considered bad or excluded from consumption, but rather all foods are considered relative to an individual's needs.

My boyfriend was macrobiotic for most of his life (of which years were spent being strict macro) and he still developed CFS! He is currently 75% better, and on the road to complete recovery -- however, this recover emanated from TCM and other herbal approaches.

Embrace macrobiotics, but keep an open mind and always seek truth with an open mind.

Celtic sea salt???????????
Forget it!
If you have been in bed for four years, worrying about what kind salt to use will not make any kind of difference to you. Just use a good quality sea salt, such as SI salt.

Oh, I know there will be a flurry of comments from the hardcore macro's about the importance of sea salt. Don't listen to them. Macro's have no IDEA where true health begins.

Find yourself a good oriental medical doctor who can advise you properly and save yourself a lot of time, money, and energy, (which you don't have a lot of).

CFS, takes a long time to get over. There is no macrobiotic miracle waiting for you.

Health starts in the mind. So start to build a picture of how you want to see yourself, health and full of energy. Spend time everyday nurturing this image and seek out knowledgeable advice.

Nattoman

Hi Michelle...

Ahh so! Good to know that things are going well by you. I recently returned from a 3 week vacation and lecture tour
of Europe and am so impressed with its beauty and history. On the other hand a good number of people I met never heard of macrobiotics and those who did were really down on it. I also lectured to two groups there that eat dairy, eggs, and fish on a regular basis, regardless of season. Curious to know how that all came about?

Now that I am home and "jet-lag" nearly over, it appears that my everyday world of reality has changed greatly. The weeds have
snuffed out nearly all of my plant beds, someone ran over my cat Jing Jing and left him to die on the side of the house. My neighbor pieced her eyebrow and belly button. Copies of an article I co-authored on the origin of macrobiotics was sitting on my doorstep in a wet mailing bag. Aveline Kushi is now a memory. The world continues to evolve as it spins around the sun, life changes to death, and death to life. It has been a wonder-filled summer so far! I miss my rubbing my cat on his head and wathing him fall to the groud, belly side up...

In peace, Roy

i think only a few are macrobiotic in Europe........I haven't found anyone to talk to in England... ...all the English people know is what they have read in books. The real thing that needs to become avaliable is that if people like Michio Kushi give a talk it should be sold on a cassette, & videos or picture books demonstrating real life facial diagnosis of real patients should be made & sold.
It is well known England is a damp country & I don't know if this affects peoples craving.......I always crave milk.........I think English eat a large amount of confectionary.......eg my mum age 53 eats toffees & chocolates & icecreams.....Dad age 55 eats pontefract cakes & wine gums.......also English drink lots of liquid,10 pints of beer, 10 cups of tea & coffee. English people are often fatigued and drained of energy.....having the best chocolate & confectionary industry in the world is a big problem!!!
I'm trying to get hold of an iron pan & the only places that sell them are in America........
I talked to Harold Kuninigan on the phone today & he was very '((""- yang"")) - rude & impolite....... .........luckily Im very ((""- yin"")) at the moment ....too yin
He did give me free macrobiotic advice though........My previous counsellor wanted me to vinegar my vegetables twice a day which I felt uncomfortable with.....i DEVELOPED CHILLS ALLERGIES aSTHMA & I have a Yin condition. Harold reccommended a 2 day ricecake fast with little water. Im gonna try it for 1/2 a day & if I feel ok, see if I can do longer. It seems too aggressive a fast for me as I have blood sugar imbalances. Aggressive treatments always backfire as my body is too sensitive. If I cant manage Ill just have little water & ricecakes for breakfast for a week.....
I've got some George Ohsawa books on the way from amazon.com as well as a stairlift hopefully.

Sorry about your cat Roy......poor thing......Ill say some prayers for him

Regards
Michelle

ps What does cordially mean? lol
