Environmental Illness

I've been wondering if it would be realistic to believe a macrobiotic diet could protect someone to a certain extent from the effects of working around harmful substances and fumes... Such as being a house or sign painter or mechanic? I've heard reports of kelp eaters in Japan not being too badly affected by radiation, and such things, so this seems reasonable to me.

Thanks

MJ
