[Over?]-Abundant Energy Levels

(Apologies for putting this in the wrong section, if that is the case. I'm not too sure if it is health, mind, body, soul, cooking, so thought it must be holistic!)

Could anyone point me in a direction for this problem/not problem?

I have been eating really well lately, much more so than in my childhood. Macrobiotics has really given me something very special- increased energy, vitality, patience, concentration… It has truly been a wonderful transformation and one which I feel will continue endlessly as I need to learn and change…

The thing is (and why is there often a 'but' in our minds?), sometimes I feel as though I have to crack this abundance of life, smash it by eating or drinking something that I wouldn't normally, like chocolate! It is not a craving- I do not even enjoy it, but afterwards I feel as though a lot of pent up energy, love, passion has dispersed slightly and I feel a bit more balanced in the long run. Does anyone else experience this? Or know what I am talking about?
A bit of background:… I have been macro for 3 years and eased into it over about two years. I never ate very unhealthy food beforehand although it did include dairy and some sugar etc, so I dont think it is a shock of change that has this effect.
Do you think it could be blocked chi? Perhaps increasing the challenges of life would help channel this energy. I have just started a local Macro group, which is small but full of life, to try and give back some of this energy I have so much of and share it with others. But maybe I need to do more.

It need not be a problem, perhaps this is completing a cycle of energy, although I am not sure it is entirely harmonious… though Tomio Kikuchi does say you can't have health without illness… etc

Any insights into this state or suggestions or references to a book that I have missed will be gratefully received.
With thanks,
j

Re: [Over?]-Abundant Energy Levels

Post-edit: I realize Sunim's analysis is really pricey. You might first want to look into the possibility that you are simply too yang! Too much salt, fish, and not enough salad or fruit. Craving chocolate is just craving yin, it seems. Have you thought of that?

Good luck,
Mara

Hi janeyeric,

If you've got some extra cash laying around, I'd recommend you look into Hyunoong Sunim's Energy Analysis to determine what foods are appropriate for you to eat, according to your time/day/season of birth.

It's incredibly accurate and effective, and they have thousands of clients around the world. You may have seen their advertisements in Qi magazine.

I realize the price is steep, but what the recommendations do is act to balance the chi of your body so that you are a calm and happy person. Often we eat foods which send to much energy to our upper bodies and head, making us feel hyperactive and "out of control". Sunim will also be available for consultation at any time in the future, once you have ordered an energy analysis.

It works just fine in harmony with a macrobiotic diet, as well. Their website is http://www.healingthesource.com.

Good luck,

Mara

Re: [Over?]-Abundant Energy Levels

Dear Mara,

Thank you for the tip! This sounds like it makes sense. I will definitely think on this idea… the energy analysis is more than I can afford, however, by considering the situation in these terms I am sure to understand something!

I have noticed the latest discussion about the pricing of Macro services. I feel that if there is something that will really help which is beyond my means, I can work it out (in some way at least) with a bit of hard work, thoughtful chewing and a little help from my friends! - so thank you, so much, for your input.

Perhaps there are some aspects of me that could be too yang. It is probably not from diet though, as I eat no animal foods (including fish). However, it could be a build up of salt from past eating… though this would be 5 years ago now. Hmm. I can live quite a yang lifestyle, at times.

So, diet, lifestyle, and season… Yes, that could make sense with the summer on its way here, so making food a bit yinner now could be an answer!

Thanks Mara!

Best wishes,
j

Re: [Over?]-Abundant Energy Levels

Hi janeyeric,
I actually considered deleting the info on the energy analysis.
I think it really does cost too much for most people, that is a problem I
have with it.

I think you should definitely go the route of more expansive cooking styles, first! Yes, with summer here it's probably easier to become over-yang without enough fruit and veggies. Good even to drink juices if appropriate.

More yin grains, too -- like quinoa and corn/polenta -- and pasta.
But you knew that, I'm sure!

Glad to help. Have a great summer, & good luck..

Mara
