Brown Rice

I eat a lot of brown rice, but I was wondering if it is really macrobiotic. It doesn't grow anywhere near where I live. What do you all think?

Re: Brown Rice

Moxiesurf,

Brown rice is the most balanced, nutritious, healing, food on the planet. It is alive, and if planted in the right conditions, anywhere, it will grow. This quality of being alive and whole, gives brown rice its life energy or "chi" which is imparted to those who eat it -- unlike its counterpart, white rice, which is hulled, processed, polished, stripped, and
denatured.

Thus, I do think it is macrobiotic.

See Aveline Kushi's online article, "Brown Rice and Happiness".

Re: Brown Rice

I understand that brown rice is healthy. But I don't think it can grow anywhere near me. I live in the mountains in a very cold climate. If I were to really eat macrobiotically I would have to eat deer and moose. I don't want to eat meat. Eating vegan and macrobiotically seem to be incongrous in my neck of the woods.

Grains can still grow in the mountains. I know that at least Bhutanese red rice does, I think.
