My cat has tongue cancer and she is not eating anything I make her. The only thing she is eating now is raw fish. I need help. I don't know what to do. I am reading the book "Raising Healthy Pets" by Dr. Norman Ralston, DVM. But I need his follow up book called "Healing Pets Naturally" and I can not find it. Does anyone know about his follow up book? Also, can anyone give me advice as to what I can do to get her to eat the food I make. And any herbs I can use. I use steamed veggies, seaweed, and raw meat with Vitamin C and E and minced garlic added. Thank you.

Re: Please help. Does anyone know about the follow up book by Dr. Norman Ralston, DVM
You must be so worried - I am sorry to read that your cat is ill.
I've been using "The New Natural Cat" by Anktra Frazier. I was appalled when I began reading what they put in our pets' food. Three years ago the vet diagnosed my 4 yr. old Himalayan with sand and stones in her bladder and recommended immediate surgery. I took the cat and ran to the nearest "natural pet food" store and found a very knowledgeable owner - he recommended Wysong Uretic Diet and Wysong Biotic Ph- to help shift the acid/alkaline pH -- within two weeks my cat beganto heal and there was no more blood in my cat's urine and she was on the road to recovery. She has no more trouble with itchy skin problems or matted fur. I also supplement her diet with Tasha's Herbs For Cats - Kidney Formula and Immune System Formula. I've been using Wysong Pet Food ever since. Wygon has an extensive website with information about "natural" pet products. I have no affiliation with Wysong, just a very satisfied and grateful consumer. My cat didn't need surgery and she's very healthy now. http://www.wysong.net/ You can also try calling Holistic Pet care at 1-800-WHISKERS, ask for Phil - he's theowner who helped save my cat from surgery. He also has holistic veterinarians he can recommend. I wish your cat a speedy recovery and hope this information will be of some help to you. ![]() |

Barbara,
Macrobiotic vets are hard to come by now-a-days! Though Dr. Norman Ralston, D.V.M., left this world in early 1999, he did leave us a great book: http://macrobioticpath.com/catalog/i...&products_id=6 http://gomf.macrobiotic.net/Books_Health.htm a great interview: http://www.cybermacro.com/Macrobioti...ton%2C_D.V.M./ , many grateful pets and their owners. Read the interview carefully and you should be able to learn a lot more. Transition her off of raw fish by feeding her 90% raw fish mixed using your hands thoroughly (no gloves) mixed with 10% Home Samurai Cat Food (HSCF): cooked fish (the same kind of fish), soaked and cooked sea vegetables (hijiki or wakame is good), and soaked and cooked (either boiled or pressure cooked) organic short grain brown rice. Mash this food very throughly with your hands in a ceramic bowl until the food becomes thoroughly integrated and then place before your cat. She should have no trouble eating it and might even eat it with great gusto! The next day you feed her a thorough hand mashed mixture of 80% raw fish and 20% of the Home Samurai Cat Food (HSCF). Day Three, feed her a thorough hand mashed mixture of 70% raw fish and 30% of the Home Samurai Cat Food (HSCF). Day Four, feed her a thorough hand mashed mixture of 60% raw fish and 40% of the Home Samurai Cat Food (HSCF). Day Five, feed her a thorough hand mashed mixture of 50% raw fish and 50% of the Home Samurai Cat Food (HSCF). At the end of ten days, she should be eating 100% Home Samurai Cat Food (HSCF) and you can start including various other cooked grains and temperate climate vegetables, again also thoroughly hand mixed and mashed. The enzymes in your hands penetrate in the the fibers of the food grain and vegetable, making them softer and more digestible. If you just throw the food in a blender and serve it to your cat, she will probably take one look at it and then look at you with eyes that say "What is this crap?", "I'm not going to eat that!", "Bring me some real food!". What if you came over to my house to eat and I gave you a mixture of grain, vegetables, and sea vegetables, mixed in a blender? You'd probly look at me with eyes that would say: "What is this crap?", "I'm not going to eat that!", "Bring me some real food!", and if I didn't, you'd probably leave and never come back!!! Welcome to the Macrobiotic Reality! In macrobiotics, we hand prepare our foods, and cook them before we eat them. Why should we treat our closest friends, especially our pets, any differently? If you want to feed your pets dry food, canned food, food made in a blender and any of that other crap that is outside of macrobiotic practice and eating, then go ahead, but don't come here expecting anyone who is macrobiotic to promote that approach to feeding and caring for your pets. Does that make any sense to you? Thank you, very much. _||_ Bruce Paine |
