macrobiotics and mental illness

Does anyone know of any cases where the symptoms of mental illness, in particular post traumatic stress, have been successfully alleviated to any extent with the macrobiotic diet? It certainly seems very possible in theory, but then you see how the wounds of the wounded go so deep, and I am not so sure.

Thanks,

Mara

Re: macrobiotics and PTSD

Hi,

David Briscoe, who became schizophrenic as a teenager, recovered nicely with macrobiotics and is a respected teacher. He has a good book on his experiences. You could check with the George Ohsawa Macrobiotic Foundation for its availability.
Food can strengthen the mind dramatically. It is more powerful than drugs in my opinion.

John

Re: macrobiotics and PTSD

Thank you for the recommendation, John. I am of the same mindset, regarding food often being more effective than drugs. I will definitely make an effort to find this book. I was familiar with David Briscoe's name but unaware of his struggle with mental illness. Hope to see you around here.
