Hello,
I had my first MB meal in Belgium in 1970 and have never forgotten that time. Also the thinnest I ever was ( maybe not that healthy either, was on a MB diet: I only at brown rice and veggies, nothing else). One of my reasons to have started the MB diet is to lose my last 10 lbs. Now, I want to learn much more about MB besides the books and have. I live in South Africa and would like to go to some MB place where I can work(?) part time maybe and learn to cook etc. I need to plan all this because of the cost. I would like to go somewhere in America or anywhere in the world. Kushi Institute is only accepting American people and I have no work visa. One month is all I have this year. I know Europe have some places to. Where do I start looking? What I expect:Teachings and cooking lessons What can I give? My time and help. I need a cheap stay as my airfair maybe quite high Anybody has an idea for me? Thanks and kind regards, Teresa |

What do you mean the K.I. is only accepting Americans in paid or volunteer positions? Where did you hear or read that? The K.I. is having a difficult financial time now so they are cutting back on hiring but if someone is willing to work for room and board, plus a weekly stipend of let's say $10.00, I'm sure that they would take anyone of any nationality (the tradition at the K.I. and the East West Foundation before that was to take in any volunteer students). Check out the links at either for possible places to go study: http://www.macrobioticdirectory.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/macro/links And check out the links of every website you visit. You should be able to find someoneor some organization that would be happy to exchange cooking for a month for work. Heck, if we weren't looking for a longtime commitment at our flat, here in Jamaica Plain, Boston, we might just take you in, here, so I'm sure that there is someone out there who has what you are looking for. Good Luck! Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine |

Thanks so much for your e-mail. I found this quote on www.kushiinstitute.org under Volunteer stay ( one months stay or longer stays, 17 weeks) that they cannot accept somebody without a working permit for the USA. Well, this maybe an idea to write them first and ask them what they can offer me. Then I may be able to get a work permit for one month, who knows? I printed all the pages, but they are at home and I at work. But if you are interested, I can send it to you or you can check the above web site which gives the prices per week, short and long stays. We will talk again, Kind regards, Teresa |
