sudden Hunger
Dear Roy
Hello, i hope you are doing fine. Please i need to take your advice for the following: lately, i've been feeling a sudden sharp hunger sometimes 3 hours after having a meal, sometimes like 10 - 15 mn after eating! This is weird because i do not eat refined carbs at all, neither simple sugars such as fruits, juices, sugar etcc..Do you have an idea why this might be happening? in the morning i eat whole grain bread (like always) with some olive or thyme with little olive oil(since i don't eat dairy) with dark kukicha tea then lunch + dinner i eat brown rice with some vegetables and legumes and seaweeds (no oil or sometimes i add 1 tbsp oil to the veg). also i take one barley miso soup (full small spoon) per day with wakame. Should i add 2 snacks during the day one at 11 and one at 4? i also exercise a lot. Thanks for your kind assistance. |

Re: sudden Hunger
Tania,
My guess is that Roy is doing fine, in his new career as an artist, and he would probably like hearing from you. If you don't have his e-mail address you can send him an e-mail via Cybermacro ( http://www.cybermacro.com/forum/send...ilmember&u=170 ) and if he's not too busy, I'm sure that he'd be happy to respond. A longtime macrobiotic teacher friend who is just beginning to learn how to use a computer has a couple of questions: Is the miso in the spoon flat level or more than that? What do you mean by thyme (the herb and in what fashion do you eat it)? My questions are: What is the climate, current outside temperature, and season, where you live? How long have you been eating macrobiotically, and where have you learned your macrobiotic cooking and diet planning? Is that whole wheat sourdough or yeasted bread? Have you tried cooking a breakfast cereal? My friend wonders if you might be consuming too much salt. And we both wonder what snacks you are thinking of consuming. One other thing...if you exercise a lot, what is your current and preferred weight? Thank you for your . Bruce Paine |

Re: sudden Hunger
Dear Bruce
thanks for your kind reply. please find below my answers to your questions: Is the miso in the spoon flat level or more than that? ---> no it is not falt, but more. i put a big full spoon of miso. What do you mean by thyme (the herb and in what fashion do you eat it)? ---> here in Lebanon we mix the thyme (dried herb) with sesame and oil and we eat it as a spread on bread or pastries. My questions are: What is the climate, current outside temperature, and season, where you live? --->i live in Lebanon (in the city) where we have four seasons and now we are in winter. the climate here is a very balanced one, not too cold not too hot, but we have lots of humidity. the current outside temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees and we are in winter now till 21 st of march. How long have you been eating macrobiotically, and where have you learned your macrobiotic cooking and diet planning? Is that whole wheat sourdough or yeasted bread? --> it is yeasted. Have you tried cooking a breakfast cereal? ---> yes, i've tried rice cream, but it doesn't fill me in for a long time. only bread seems to keep me filled in for more hours. My friend wonders if you might be consuming too much salt. ----> i don't put salt in the rice, i use kombu. neither with the veggies. And we both wonder what snacks you are thinking of consuming. ---> i saw some puffed rice with seaweeds inside in a macrobiotic health shop and i was thinking on trying them. One other thing...if you exercise a lot, what is your current and preferred weight? ---> right now, since a month i've put on 2 kilos even though i haven't changed my eatings a lot! when i started macrobiotic in august, i was 44 kg, i lost 2 kilos and became 42, then after a couple of months my weight started fluctuating up and down, and now i find myself to be switching from 45 to 46 kgs! which makes me want to stop eating the grains. my ideal weight is 43 kg, even though being 45 / 46 makes me still slim, but i feel bloated. thank you Bruce and ahve a great day. |

Re: sudden Hunger
Dear Bruce
i forgot to reply to the following: How long have you been eating macrobiotically, and where have you learned your macrobiotic cooking and diet planning? i actually started eating macrobiotic in august 2003 after i went by chance with my brother to a macrobiotic teacher and when she looked to my face she said " do you have heart palpitations?" i said yes, all the time and she told me it is because of a stress of my right kidney ( due to my past long use of aspartame which i stopped 2 years ago) and advised me to stop the fruits and take miso (i used to eat lots of fruits) but she did not tell me to turn completely to macrobiotic, it is me who decided to give it a full try (except for the breakfast). after one month of stopping the fruits, my heart palpitations ended and my energy levels came back to a top level after also losing the 2 kilos ( even though i looked skinny), i always felt very energetic at that weight though. but then after a couple of month, i noticed that i was eating more grains and legumes (my body was demanding them a lot, especially more legumes like lentils and pickcheas and aduki), and so i would add twice the amount of rice and legumes in my plate. i hope this helps and thanks again for your assistance. regards |
