Search for Mac Community

Happy New Year, Friends!

Do you know of any macrobiotic communities living together in Europe?
I would love to find somewhere to live and be that is more conducive to the macro way of life than my current situation...

Many thanks,

Fearlessness and Harmony

Re: Search for Mac(ro) Community

janeyric,

How do you do your art while cycling great distances?

Be careful that you don't confuse the Mac(intosh, Apple http://www.apple.com/ ) and the Mac(robiotic) communities.

While it is true that many macrobiotic people are Apple/Macintosh computer users, very few Apple/Macintosh computer users are macrobiotic! ;-)

I hear that one of the most united communities in Europe are the Italians. so please contact Roberto Marrocchesi http://www.macrobiotics.co.uk/featur...arrocchesi.htm shuimacro@libero.it , for more information.

The Dutch have the Kushi Institute of Europe http://www.macrobiotics.nl in Amsterdam.

And the French http://membres.lycos.fr/pkusnik/ have many macrobiotic restaurants http://www.shiatsumacrobiotique.com/restaurants.htm in Paris.

Check out The Online International Macrobiotic Directory http://www.macrobioticdirectory.com/ for more links.

Thank you, very much.

Re: Search for Mac Community

Hello Bruce

Thank you for the links and info.

Apologies for any confusion over the term mac- i was being lazy over typing macrobiotics. To avoid further misunderstanding i will write macrobiotics macrobiotics macrobiotics macrobiotics macrobiotics macrobiotics macrobiotics everytime now!

I was looking for a community to live in that is as self-sufficient and macrobiotic as possible, with sustainable agricuture/permaculture type practices and the like... Though I have nothing aginst Apple Mac users...

As for the artwork- well, the journeys I make on my bike, be they short or long, give me inspiration in movement, places, people and events occuring along the way and when i am constantly put in new situations i love the thrill of responding, a fresh approach to the word responsibility, that includes both duty and also dynamism! The work that comes out of this is varied- photostory books, actions, meetings and discussions, installations depending on the situation, though all is based on a revived view of the aesthetic- not as something to cause a random reaction via the eye, but as the converse of anaesthetic- numbness and lacking the seven transformations and the spiralic formation of life!

What do you do when you are not on Cybermacro?

Many thanks,

Fearlessness and Harmony

Re: Search for Mac Community

janeyric,

Sometimes "mb" is used in short for macrobiotics but again beware the "MB" also is often used to describe megabytyes (1,024 bytes [byte :n : a sequence of 8 bits {enough to represent one character of alphanumeric data} processed as a single unit of informatio]) of RAM (n 1: the most common computer memory which can be used by programs to perform necessary tasks while the computer is on; an integrated circuit memory chip allows information to be stored or accessed in any order and all storage locations are equally accessible).

And where are you starting from?

I'm in Boston and I wash (street level) windows and often bicycle between my various clients, though I sometimes drive to them, as well.

My favorite art medium is watercolor, though I have done some photography and computer tablet drawing/painting.

Do you ride a road, mountain, or hybrid bicycle?

If you look again at the The Online International Macrobiotic Directory http://www.macrobioticdirectory.com/, you will see that I've added many more country categories to add links to and besides the usual macrobiotic businesses and people, we are going to encourage people to list stores that carry macropbiotic supples and organic produce, so that online visitors can find what they need in their locale or where they are visiting offline.

I'm born in the midwinter and midcentury, just south of the most popular beach in the most populated state in the country that consumes the most.

When and where did you first enter the picture?

Thank you, very much.

Don't forget you also have the high end audio manufacturers Macintosh, as well
I can assume that many macrobiotic people are audiophiles too.

Re: Search for Mac Community

Hello friends

Thank you for the links Bruce and Bo, its very helpfull to get right where you want to be just by asking directions instead of getting lost in the backstreets of the internet...

I find it really funny that there is so much confusion over Apple Mac Computers and Macrobiotics! Please understand I do not scoff, I just find it so amusing when we are all on a Macro(biotic) forum! Perhaps this is due to my sparse computer knowledge all about rams and bites and stuff...

The macrobitic directory is definately looking good Bruce, though I am a little confused over the entrys being listed as (2) when actually they are often 1. Perhaps this has something to do with my browser or somesuch... Do you know how to get a copy of the printed macro directory if they still do it?

Bruce, it must be satisfying to clean windows and cycle, its one of those things like being a post-man(/woman) or a cycle courier that i would always like to try. I have one racer and one MTB (mountain Bike) though I dont think the tool is what makes the expereince of riding, propelling yourself with nothing but the food you eat and more importantly, the belief/vision/aim that propells me along...

I found my way into this world in Autumn (or you might say Fall?), about a quarter of a century ago. I appeared in East London, England with a sprawling factory/motorway/shopping centre landscape on one side and the ancient moss ridden Epping Forest that stretches out from London on the other. If you're looking for mythological characters, or steriotypes of these places, think Dick Turpin (highwayman on the roman roads) and, um, Ali G. Well, all antagonisms are complementary!

Right now i am living on a narrowboat on the Oxford Canal, making power out of sun, wind and wood and generally being very carefull with water, electricity and wood not only for the environment but also as it takes a more than just a button/tap/switch to get these things!

The name of my boat is Moshulu (which means fearless) though had been changed to Harmonia. I like both together as they require each other, and this is why I sign my emails

Fearlessness and Harmony,
*jane*

While I was traveling in Portugal, I found that all of the health food stores carried extensive amounts of macrobiotic foods, whole grains, teas, etc. I did not find any macrobiotic communities, but the overall culture of the people there is relaxed, friendly and inviting. If this is something that really interest you, perhaps you could get one started yourself.

Re: Search for Mac Community

That is a very good point, Annie

I have been beginning to think down those lines lately... Portugal sounds good.

I am to-ing and fro-ing between staying in the so called 'outside' world and trying to share macrobiotics with others and moving into an 'intentional' community, where I could live a more ecologically conscious lifestyle, with a closer group of people that would be wonderfull. It is my western mind dividing the responsibility to myself and to my society, deciding which to choose when really the two are entirely symbiotic! Hmm,
thanks for the ideas all,

fearlessness and harmony,

Janeyric and friends,

If you are using a browser to send and receive messages, private messages and e-mails can be sent and received, as well (see the top right hand area of Cybermacro forums and click on "Private Messages").

Anyone wishing to exchange e-mail with me after tomorrow might have to wait until next Wednesday as I am moving and may lose access to the Net', until then.

Thank you, very much.

Re: Search for Mac Community

comuniidade,

You said in Portuguese:

Sim claro, se sou português falo português! Também falas? És quem? Conheces o Francisco Varatojo?

which, according to the Systran http://www.systransoft.com/ translation, means in English:

"Yes clearly, if I am Portuguese I speak Portuguese! Also you speak?
You are who? You know the Francisco Varatojo? E Jose Areal? Already I
heard histories of it... I am friend of the Francisco and pupil in the
Macrobiotico Institute of Portugal.

In relation to the group in yahoo I was very enthusiastic in creating
one since it had will in creating a community in Portugal!"

No, I don't speak Portuguese but I strongly sympathize with people seeking communities that support their particular practice of macrobiotics.

it's almost as hard as finding true love in a place where most of the people are not macrobiotic and are much smaller sized than one's self (not easy for slow dancing, and palling around!).

You can find at least 40 Portugal listings in the International Macrobiotic Directory for 2004. http://www.kushistore.com/acatalog/R...rectories.html

Are there many Brazilians in Portugal?

There was, and possibly still is, a strong macrobiotic ( http://www.ime.usp.br/~adolfo/aev/pr...rTKEnglish.htm http://www.ime.usp.br/%7Eadolfo/aev/professorTK.htm ) movement in Brazil.

They speak Portuguese, too!

Have a great time finding and developing your community and welcome to ours!

Traduzido (usando Systran) de inglês ao português:

"No., eu não falo o português mas eu sympathize fortemente com as
comunidades procurando dos povos que suportam sua prática particular
do macrobiotics.

http://www.kushistore.com/acatalog/R...rectories.html

Há muitos brasileiros em Portugal?

Havia, e possivelmente está ainda,
(http://www.ime.usp.br/~adolfo/aev/pr...rTKEnglish.htm
http://www.ime.usp.br/%7Eadolfo/aev/professorTK.htm) um movimento
macrobiotic forte em Brasil.

Falam o português, demasiado!

Tenha uma estadia grande encontrar e desenvolver sua comunidade e
dê-a boas-vindas a nossos!

Obrigado, muito muito."

Thank you, very much.
