Hallo,
just made some soft rice, but opened the pot and thought "hey, do I _really_ have to eat this whitish stuff? It hasn't even a nice smell" Any tip? thanks m. |

Re: don't like eating rice
actually I was talking about brown rice....
But recently (a few days) I have understood that it's the taste which draws, and rice follows. So at dinner if you sit before a dish of brown rice (or millet, or quinoa) it's not a happy meal, unless there's something else which is tasty (vegetables, legumes). Brown rice alone is -to me- so sad... I've strived for a long time to keep the Kushi's ratio of 50% (or more) rice, but I feel it's so innatural. Cereals are a along-with food (unless it's for diet n. 7). bye m. |

Re: don't like eating rice
Hi Max, nice to make your aquaintance,
Since you are from Italy, maybe you would prefer whole wheat soba noodles instead, or udon, buckwheat noodles. You can even make your own homemade noodles with a pasta maker. There's a never-ending variety of things to eat, even within the sometimes restricted healing diet of the macro. I feel better about myself and my life, when I know I'm eating something both healthy and delicious. I like food that makes me feel good, rather than not. Remember to eat indigenous foods that are right for your country, climate, and season. Near the Mediterranean, fish comes to mind. To try something different I have a nice noodle dish for you: SESAME HOT NOODLES (Chinese) 2 9oz. packs noodles of your choice 3 tbsp. sunflower oil 2 tbsp. sesame oil 1 garlic clove, crushed 1 tbsp. smooth peanut butter 1 small green chili, seeded and finely chopped 3 tbsp toasted sesame seeds 4 tbsp light soy sauce 1/4 tbsp lime juice salt and pepper 4 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro Cook noodles, add sauce. I have made this with less noodles, much less oil, a little garlic, the 1 tbsp peanut butter, without chili, with sesame seeds, soy sauce, and some lime juice. However you vary it, it's a nice change of pace and comes out delicious. I'm into noodles, when I want something different. Rice is great with stir frys, you know... Nancy --- |

Re: don't like eating rice
LOL Max, if you think "brown rice" isn't very appetizing try eating buckwheat, not only does it smell like iodine, it has an indescribable taste, you'll soon find a new passion for brown rice once you've tried buckwheat and barley!
:o) Basmati Brown Rice is really nice and soft flavored, while medium grain american brown rice is very flavorful, they're my 2 fav's. |

Re: don't like eating rice
If you don't like it - don't eat it!
Life is too short to not enjoy what you eat. however before you reject it, try cooking it different ways. soaked and boiled, pressure cooked, toasted and baked. With veggies, with tofu, with tempeh, with fish (if you eat fish), with nuts, with seeds, with chestnuts (who can resist that). and if you still don't like it, leave it and maybe come back to it as your taste buds change. sometimes I love rice, other times I don't really want it. Sometimes I crave it boiled when I am more yang and sometimes pc when more yin. At the moment I am on a buckwheat adventure! and don't forget millet, barley, quinoa..... |
