Weight Loss Questions
Hello everyone,
I sure am glad that I found this website, I am in need of some support on this new diet. My first question is: Can you eat as much brown rice as you want at each meal? My second question is: How much oil is accepted on this program on a daily basis? I have the book entitled "The Macrobiotic Way" it says that there should only be an allowance of one teaspoon per day of sesame oil, but when I looked on one of the sample menu days it says to deep fry one dish on millet grain rice for lunch. I'm not very clear on this would someone help me, please! ![]() |

Re: Just to a add something else!
lighthouse25,
As I mentioned in the other reply, we will need some facts. Are you trying to heal a disease or condition or are you just trying to lose weight? If you got involved in macrobiotics because you are trying to heal something and you wsould also like to lose weight, then focus on the first problem and the second will addressed not long after. How much fat you can consume depends on you. If you have been eating a lot of saturated fat until recently, you might need more oil and fat than someone who has been doing macrobiotics for awhile, and then gradualy consume less until you find that right amount fats for you. If you were eating a lot of fried foods until recently, and again, your condition is good, you should be able to eat tempura (make sure that you have some organic shoyu [soy sauce] on hand and some grated daikon to help cut the oil) once in awhile, but not too often. Gradually you will want to cut down the deep frying of foods so that it becomes a occasional treat or a way to entertain non-macro guests. I feel that you might really want to get a copy of The Self-Healing Cookbook: A Macrobiotic Primer for Healing Body, Mind and Moods With Whole Natural Foods by Kristina Turner Read the subchapters "Letting Go of Fat" and "To Lose Weight Naturally" including "Slimming Diet Guidelines" and "Slim Rhythms". Kristina will help you with portion control in the "..Guidelines" sub-sub-Chapter. If you chew each mouthful of rice until it is thoroughly liquified (at least one hundred chews) then you can eat as much rice as you want. You can eat as much as you want and in time you will be eaing just enough. Does this help? Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine Last edited by Bruce Paine; 08-26-2006 at 05:12 AM. Wow! Thanks for your help!
I don't eat any oil (only 1 teaspoon per day or every other day of dark sesame oil) I don't eat fried foods at all. But it seems like I can't lose the weight. I speed walk everyday (30 minutes) and lift weights also. I am trying to lose 90 pounds. What should I do! ![]() |
