Thanks!
I dont want to give it up. I had sinuses for 10 years and tried everything. One drink of distilled water got rid of it. Also has a rash for six months, only distilled water got rid of it. I dont cook with it. I use filtered water for cooking.

Re: Distilled water
I recommend water filters but as far as contaminants are concerned, distilled water is the purest water one can find.
Concerned there are no nutrients? Here's several options. Squeeze a little lemon or lime into your glass of water, it is great for flushing your liver. Or, take a spoon of brown rice (white rice is worthless) or a handful of almonds , let them soak in a gallon of distilled water. Distilled water can only bind with inorganic minerals like the calcium found in extremely hard water or the calcium in all the "enriched" foods. It's also been known to dissolve inorganic calcium deposits causing painful arthritis. I think the main disadvantage is that distilled water takes a lot of energy to produce, filters cost much less in the long run. However, holistic and natural doctors suggest distilled water for any type of detox or cleansing program. I am assuming that the cleaner water is, the cleaner it is going to get you. Water is a universal solvent. |

Hi,
Distilled water seems to be the most refined product like white flour or pure cane sugar, lacking in certain essential ingredients that the body needs to utilize it properly. For many centuries the human organism has been consuming water that has included many ingredients that it has picked up along the way from the oceans, clouds, mountains, springs, streams, rivers, and delivered to us in it's most natural state. But in recents decades, so many unnatural things has happened to the sources of our water supply that we now must either seek the most natural sources of water or purify the adulterated water that flows to us. A really excellent book, The Drinking Water Book: A Complete Guide to Safe Drinking Water by Colin Ingram http://print.google.com/print?id=3D0...6btnG%3DSearch approaches the safety of our drinking water in a very clear, level-headed way. My favorite part of the book is a two page cross reference chart that shows one what type of purifying device removes what kind of pollutants. Whether it's Microoganisms (Bacteria, Viruses, or Cysts), Minerals (Toxic metals, Nitrates and other non- metals, or Abestos fibers), Organics (Volatiles, orPesticides, PCBs, herbicides, and other non volatiles), Radioactives (Radon, Uranium and radium, dissolved, or Uranium and radium particles), Additives (Chlorine, Floride, Mineral alkalizers and floccuulents, or Organic additives), or Tastes and smells (Hydrogen sulfide and other volatiles, Dissolved minerals, or Mineral and organic particles), Colin shows us to what degree of an effect on our drinking water filtering devices using Granulated Carbon (GC), Block Carbon (BC), Redox + GC, Redox + BC, Bacteriostatic + Carbon, Redox + Bact. + GC, Batch Distillation, Water Flow Distillation, Batch Distillation + Carbon, Water Flow Distillation + Carbon, Reverse Osmosis (RO) + GC, Reverse Osmosis (RO) + BC, RO + Bacteriostatic + Carbon, RO + Rerdox + GC, RO + Rerdox + BC, RO + Rerdox + Bact., + GC, Ultraviolet (UV), UV + GC, UV + BC, UV + Redox + GC, and UV + Redox + BC has. While it is true that distillers such as the Batch Distillation + Carbon filter and the Water Flow Distiller + Carbon filter removes all the pollutants that one can find in our water supply, CuZn water purifiers http://www.simply-natural.biz/cookwa...er-filters.php (CuZn means copper zinc and is a redox or reduction-oxidation chemical exchange process in which toxic metals in the water are exchanged for the harmless copper and zinc. The copper-zinc in the filter also traps chlorine, various tastes and smells and greatly reduces the various microorganisms [aiding the granulated activated carbon contained in the rest of the filter to complete the elimination of microorganisms from your potable water]! Another great water purification and filtration device is The Wellness Water Filter http://www.simply-natural.biz/cookwa...er-filters.php which in addition to the copper zinc (KDF) and activated charcoal medias, there also is a natural and volcanic rock component that adds soluble silica to the water, something that almost no other water purifier in the world contributes to it's water treatment. Sometime, when you are at your local natural supermarket, buy either a bottle of Trinity (Springs) Geothermal Bottled Water ttp://www.trinitysprings.com/products/default.asp?page=gbw or Fiji Water http://www.fijiwater.com/ which both have high constituents of soluable silica in them. Those of you who have been practicing macrobiotics for a while should be able to tell the difference between these and other bottled waters, and then you can quickly see the value of a Wellness Water Filter. Be Well. Cool Dude |

Since everyone is talking water here, here's a question i've been wondering about. I have been boiling large pots of water with a few dashes of super high quality sea salts, cooling overnight, then chilling in glass containers and using this as my drinking water. This is for me cheaper than a filter and cleaner than a stupid plastic brita commitment. Am I removing too much or too little by this process? Thx guys

It depends, primarily, on your water source, chipchewmunk!
If you are processing artesian well water or water from a clean spring, then my guess is that with a dash of high quality sea salt, you would still have a good (safe) quality cooking and drinking water. On the other hand if you have tap water coming from a common big city supply usually containing chlorine and floride, and possibly some toxic minerals, then simply boiling with sea salt, and cooling might not significantly change the consistancy of the water. Boston, for instance, just recently improved http://www.boston.com/news/local/art...ling_with_joy/ the taste of it's water by switching from the traditional chlorination to using ozone to purify the public water suppy, so if you live in a city that has done that, it may be okay to just boil and cool your potable water. Get a water test kit http://www.watersafetestkits.com/ or send it to a lab http://www.e-watertest.com/water-test-order2.html http://www.google.com/search?q=lab+t...en-US:official and find out what's in your water if it concerns you! Be Well. Cool Dude |
