how can I find a macrobiotic counselor in my area?
Recently I've been made aware of the macrobiotic way of living. I've been reading many books and I have come to the conclusion that I need to take the advice of Michio Kushi...I need a professional to help me with my particular health requirements. I'm looking for some kind of listing for the East Bay Area of San Francisco. Anyone know of a link or a listing that can help me find what I'm looking for? Anyone experience (good or not) the help of such professionals. Should I know certain questions to ask these ones before I go to them? I don't want my newness to macrobiotics to be taken advantage of. I've been ill for 9 years with Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia...and paid through the nose only to be drugged...and getting no relief. Anyone out there want to point me in the right direction???
I really appreciate any compassion sent my way in the form of advice. I'm so ready to be on top of this...but I could use a little help from my friends!! Thank you Janine

Janine, go for macrobiotics! I have just about cured my chronic fatigue with it. It is amazing, powerful stuff, especially once you learn to use your intuition in relation to food. Don't worry about getting taken advantage of. It sounds kind of corny but I have learned that if you just trust in the universe to point you in the right direction, things usually work out.
You can e-mail me if you want. I would be happy to talk. My International Macrobiotic directory lists these people in your area (San Francisco) Marc E Weill --rolfing, macro nutrition 1774 Union St 415-928-5423 Robert Turner MD 1719 Union Street 415-292-4404 Susanne Jensen -- dinners, cooking classes and takeout meals PO BOX 16328 415-661-4764 There are more in other parts of Northern CA. you might want to order a directory from Robert Mattson in Oakland. It is 12 dollars. 1050 40th Street Oakland, California 94608 intermac@earthlink.net or 510-601-1763 Good luck! I am sorry your post didn't get an earlier reply. Mara |

janine, if you come to camp this summer (19-27july in the tahoe national forest northeast of sacramento), not only will you have access to some of the most experienced counselors and long-time practitioners of mb in n america but you'll be able to learn to cook, too! (susanne and packy are co-lead chefs again this year)

Re: how can I find a macrobiotic counselor in my area?
Hi - I am brand new to this forum - just registered today - but I too am in search of a macrobiotic counselor in my area. I live in a suburb of Chicago and haven't had any luck locating a center or counselor in the general vicinity. I am willing to travel a bit but California is probably too far. I would greatly appreciate any assistance!

Hi Trinity,
I just happened to see your posting of needing resources in the Chicago area. I remembered that there was a listing or two in the Online International Macrobiotic Directory. Here is the page for this area. http://www.cybermacro.com/links/page...ors/index.html Good luck! Gary |

Hello Janine,
Michelle Nemer is an excellent macrobiotic counselor in the San Francisco bay area. She has over 20 years experience and works well with individuals on a very personable basis. Please feel free to call her office at 510-527-4367. I am more experienced in the cooking realm. If you need private cooking instruction or meals prepared you may email me and I will contact you promptly.
