It is a delight to one again see so much activity here. Thank you all for participating, Mara, Bruce, Dave and Nancy. I don't know what "Holy Spirit" means Dave and I do not equate a personal, family discovery via a series of dreams to "spiritual" in any way -- but more of a realization of a physical/blood nature, as I said "like the passing od DNA, and intuitive personality traits.
Bruce, I'm glad you supplied that Kushi passage as it pretty much backs my stand on dreaming and sleeping. I realize that many of Japanese desent are of Buddhist and Shinto descent, and as such believe in a pantheon of spirits in the after life. I do not believe this myself, as a Philosophical Taoist, but respect his opinion, as I hope others will respect mine. Regarding Mara's question on how much sleep is necessary per night, this would depend on the person and their lifestyle to a great degree. I personally require from 6-8 hours per night. I retire usually between 9 and 10 and wake up around 5 am. From the time I get up and do Tai Chi my day becomes highy physical and creative, where I jog between two jobs -- one of driving a school bus, and the other of operating an art conservatory and brokerage (art) business. Not to mention meeting all my household and garden chores, and taking care of my 10 year son while mom is off to work in the hospital all day. No time for TV and usually less than two hours per day on the computer. Remember that I am a cancer survivor and have period check-ups and require medical monitoring and occassional hopital treatments. Life is so exciting and there is so much to accomplish duing each day that I sometimes wish I didn't have to sleep at all. Life is but a dream... In peace, Roy |

I missed this one...
Nancy, you wrote in an earlier post the following:
>Whoosh! I am blown away by your reply, --that was a really comprehensive, excellent answer. Thank you. It makes perfect sense and is common sense. I think pioneers who founded this nation had a handle on the rhythm of the land and healthy living habits. All people who live close to the land and work physically on the land do. < Yes the founding fathers were mainly of English descent and the vast majority who penned the Declaration and Constitution were Deists. By the end of the seventh century the cult of reason and enlightment helped to change the world view. In England the Deists formed in the earlly part of the eighteenth century to show that there was no need for organized religion and that "God's Laws" were sufficiently manifested in Nature. Thus there was no need for any supernatural revelation. Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin were Deists and great thinkers. I know for sure that Jefferson was a gentleman farmer (from Virginia) but not sure just how much he dug the land (he was a printer and public offical by trade). Sorry I missed this part of the post. Well, the weekend is nearly over and I will have to start backing off on posting for a while. Have a great week, beginning this second... In peace, Roy |

Hi Roy,
I will in the Ohsawa spirit of self reliance, prove for myself, one way or another, whether it is possible to live a macrobiotic lifestyle and to eat a macrobiotic diet and still have dreams that will provide insights into spiritual matters. (No I will not define "Spiritual matters" LOL). Like Ohsawa said, "I can only give you the keys, you must unlock the door. There are many doors, you must decide which one to open." I respect you very much and will politely wave as we each freely choose to open similar but different doors. Best, Dave Last edited by Nancy; 12-07-2004 at 04:25 PM. |

Re: Dreaming: Do you have dreams?
An old thread, but I'd like to share my experience with this topic:
In the two weeks that I've followed a strict macrobiotic diet, I have been having the most vivid, realistic, detailed, and WONDERFUL dreams I have had in my entire life. Each dream has been simply beautiful, lengthy, and has seemed to impart knowledge. I awaken each morning refreshed and grinning ear to ear. Nary a bad dream in sight. Is this unusual, to experience such realistic dreams while following the macrobiotic way? Is it part of a discharge process? What do you think? Thank you, Rachel |
