Klonopin

I have been a vegetarian for 2 decades. Even have my moments of veganism. Well .... those moments never last long. The outside world always draws me back to the mainstream bad eating habits.
For 2 decades I have suffered from a mild and sometimes not so mild form of anxiety/panick disorder. I tried conventional approaches and holistic approaches. My doctor was rather understanding and let me do my thing.
Last month my blood pressure stayed around 160/100 and I thought it time to see my doctor. At the doctor's office the blood pressure elevated to 180/110. Scary!!!!
Now I am not treated for hypertension but the doctor put me on Klonopin. I must say, I feel rather well but I am concerned.
What other approach can I try? I know this is not a place for medical advice. But could someone tell me please where I am going wrong?
I am 50 years old, 114 lbs, walk daily 2-3 miles, go swimming twice weekly. No alcohol and a very small amount of caffeine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Karlitta
ohhhhh .....my mother suffers the same malady.

Karlitta. Part of your medical condition stems from inheritance and part from eating food too much of a yin nature. It would
be advisable to eat more whole grains and no refined or broken down grains (like flour products, noodles, tofu, etc.) Also you need to cook nealy all foods and use a small amount of miso soup daily and good protion of cooked greens and ROOT vegetables.

Avoid vinegar, citrus, supplements, OTC drugs, honey and other simple sugars. Avoid very aromatic teas and cold drinks, no coffee, or tropic spices like ginger, pepper, etc. all these excite nervous system. When eating you need to eat very slowly and chew each mouthfoul 50 times before swallowing. This will help body to center and become more balanced. Eating cooked whole oats in the am will also prove benficial and help to level hormones and calm nerves. Oats are a great calming grain. But better whole oats than oatmeal (flakes). Avoid bread products, but
sea salt and a little more vegetable oil and fish would help
your situation.

The Klonopin is an strong anticonvulsant that is used mainly for Petit mal seizures. It is a drug in the family of drugs known as benzodiazeprines that can cause a number of problems if you have respiratoru, liver, kidney problems or sleep apnea. A number of possible side effets also accompanies this drug including abnormal eye movements, loss of voic, headache, diziness, stomach irritation and reduced red and white blood cell and platlet levels. Abrupt discontinuance of this drug can cause drug witrawal symptoms. I would adse you to discuss other
alternatives with your doctor. Especially if you begin changing your eating habits.

In peace, Roy

Hi Carlita,
I have experienced panic attacks in the past 2 years. I'm glad to hear from a fellow sufferer. You have my sympathy. Panic attacks are very debilitating.
I have no doubt that Roy's advice is good for this condition. My first and worst attack was triggered by a plate of spinach! Very yin.
Currently I am not having any problems with panic attacks. Clearing up long standing dental problems has made them a thing of the past, it seems.
John

Klonopin

I want to thank Roy and John Caldwell for their kind replies.
I must admit that I struggle greatly with the macrobiotic lifestyle.
Not that I want to give it up; however, I have my ups and downs.
This is probably quite normal if you are a newcomer like I am.
I try to stay with the most simple appealing receipes possible as I found if I try to experiement too deeply, I set myself up for failure.
Plus, my husband is a meat/potato man and it is quite hard at times to cook for two. Well, I know, there is always that trusty pot of brown rice and beans. Wish LOL I invested in a new pressure cooker today. So thank you, guys, it is wonderful to get a feedback.
As far as my panick attacks are concerned , no doubt, they are inherited as my mother and oldest daughter suffer from those as well. However they kid themselves and find excuses for them. My mother uses food as a crutch and my daughter cigarettes.
Thanks again for listening, Karlitta
