pressure cooker burn

(I wrote this on the different mb discussion groups I'm on, so for those of you who already read it, apologies. But am guessing there are some out there who aren't on the discussions sites, so am sharing this with you)

I'm quite aware of the dangers of the pc and even astounded myself that I did this very stupid thing. I pc cooked my black soybeans just fine, came out nice and soft, then I added some vegetables so I can make a soup, and I'm sure I did NOT put it on pressure, but just cooked it regular. (I never pc vegetables) Suddenly it started to spew and come out of the pot - when stuff like that happens, sometimes I just don't think but react - and my reaction was to take off the top - HUGE MISTAKE - it splattered all over the kitchen, the stove, and worse, my hand.

I cut a piece of aloe vera off and held it on constantly - if I took it off the burning sensation hurt too much. Then I thought maybe just to soak it, so I took a bath, but the bath water was too hot for my hand, so I kept it soaked in a bowl of cool water.

By Saturday it already was better and I thought I had healed it. How vain.

Today, Monday, the discoloration is still strong, and it's still sensitive if I do anything, like towel dry it. I put some lavendar oil on it and so far it hasn't blistered.

I'm not really asking for any advice here - just kind of sharing my experience to forewarn others - be ever so careful with pressure cookers, even if the pressure part is not on!!!!!

Klara
