how to gain weight?
i have been macrobiotic for more than a year. it has been many months since i have menstruated, and my weight is below healthy BMI. emotionally, i am better than ever, yet still experiencing days of anxiety and despair. my gut tells me this is from b12 and efa deficiency. i am considering adding a fish oil supplement. i am trying to orient my eating to be more yin. any suggestions for gaining weight would be appreciated!

sorry, couldn't resist that one. Mb is not solely about how much you weigh - it's great what you say that you feel emotionally better than ever. Follow your intuition and check out with a dr if you are deficient in anything. I am not a counselor and couldn't possibly suggest what you should or shouldn't be eating - there are so many factors involved in one's health and being balanced - what makes you think you need more yin??? and exactly what does that mean?? Not having your period for a long time seems to me to indicate something isn't happy inside (unless you're pregnant, then we have a different scenario to discuss)(or menapausing??). How have you been following the mb diet, have you had a teacher, a counselor, someone who can see your personal situation and help give you direction? Klara |
