frustrated.
i have been macrobiotic for nearly 2 yrs. i started macrobiotics to heal myself from bulimia. it has been a long process, but i am free and clear of the desire to purge my food. i still, however, am binging on a weekly basis. i am getting up in the middle of the night and eating macro food. last night it was a couple cups of brown rice and walnuts and amasake. this leaves me feeling sluggish for a few days. as soon as i really start feeling balanced, i do it again.
i know i am not getting enough protein or fat, despite adding than a typical macro diet. i have not menstruated in 9 months. i start to feel weak, and so i eat more nuts. i want to give up lots of time, but faith keeps me going. i am sick of feeling so isolated with food. any advice would be much appreciated! blessings, Waller |

I see that you have posted many times complaining of the same condition. You also say that you have both a macrobiotic counselor and a acupuncturist who has recommended B-Complex (vitamins) to you. I feel that when it comes to our health we need to take an integrated approach to healing ourselves and that means making sure that all the people that help us are on the same page, supporting the help that we are getting. If the mb counselor for instance, is telling you to follow a certain diet but is recommending no vitamins and your acupuncturist is suggesting vitamins with or without support to your macrobiotic diet, you could be getting help from two sources at conflict with each other. If you need both professionals then maybe you should hold a 3-way conference (you can set up 3-way conferencing on your land or cell phone with your phone company) with them so in the end the advice you are getting from both of them is the same. In case you weren't able to find the books that Ilanit recommended last April, here they are: Set Free: A Woman's Victory over Eating Disorders by Linda McGrath Obesity, Weight Loss and Eating Disorders: A Natural Approach (Macrobiotic Health Education Series) by Michio Kushi with John D. Mann Obesity, Weight Loss and Eating Disorders: Cooking for Health (Macrobiotic Food and Cooking Series) by Aveline Kushi with Helaine Honig Also, please read Bulimia Recovery by Janet Karovitch which is also contained in the Women's Health Guide: A Natural Approach to Breast Cancer, Hearst Disease, Fibroids, Pms, Bulemia, Childbirth, Menopause, and Osteoporosis Edited by Gale Jack and Wendy Esko Best wishes towards healing your condition and please keep us apprized of your progress. Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine |

Re: frustrated.
THANK YOU, Bruce for taking the time to make these recommendations. i have not sought guidance from healers or dr.'s in many months, as i noticed it takes away from my intuitive healing abilities. i will chack out the books you recommended, though still wonder if you or anyone knows what i need to prioritize in my eating to bring on menstrual cycle?
thanks again! Waller |
