I suppose it all depends on what you believe causes tooth decay. Most dentist and health professionals believe that tooth decay is caused by disease and bacteria and if one brushes one's teeth after every meal (and flosses every day and see a dentist regularly) and every snack then one will get no bacteria build-up and has less tooth decay and dental disease. Most long time macrobiotic people and professionals believe that eating refined and unbalanced foods contribute to tooth decay. When one eats refined: sugar, salt, grains, or flour, the body being an intelligent organism recognizing that certain elements like minerals are needed to process those foods. Because the minerals that are needed are missing from those foods the body provides the minerals, usually stored in the bones and teeth to help process those foods in their digestion, and assimilation. If one consumes foods that contain all the ingredients for digestion and assimilation like whole grains, whole grain flour, unrefined salt, and products containing unrefined sugars, then nothing has to be surrendered by the body and neither bone loss nor tooth decay occur. I know of one macrobiotic individual who after quitting consuming refined: sugar, salt, grains, or flour, stopped losing his teeth, drastically slowed down the tooth decay and hasn't needed to see a dental professional in decades. I believe that if one has minor dental problems and takes good care of the whole organism then the dental problems take care of themselves. If one has major dental problems even after eating unrefined and macrobioticly balanced foods for a long time then one needs to find a dentist who does minimal damage to the teeth and who uses non-toxic materials. What do you think? Thank you, very much. Bruce Paine |

Re: Caries
Hi, Bruce
I have been eating macrobiotic food since 2003. I didn' t have any problems with dents to this year. This year I begin to eat refined food, when I am outside and have too many jobs in the city. I eat food refined wheat based from bakery, when I am hungry in the city. Now, I have caries on grinders, and this is first time until now. I agree with you for problems with dents, but what do I do. Can I use onlt dentie and seasalt, or must I go to the dentist's? And what do I do with craters on dents? Thanks Last edited by Mare34; 10-02-2006 at 07:53 PM. |

Re: Caries
I heard for one good method for repairing dents. I urinoterapy have treatment which consists of ablution teeth with a cooked urin to quartern of its beginning volume. This ablution endure about half an hour.
The heal of this treatment was explain by osmosis, which happened in gash in tooth. This osmosis heave bacterias and carious materials out of tooth. In addition to, the minerals from urin feed tooth with minerals, which is lost ago by affection of acids from jin food. |
